ALMOST 19 WEEKS - AND NOT FEELING THE KICKING YET

Hey all - I am full of questions today.  I am going to be 19 weeks on Thursday.  I know the doctors say that I wont necessarily feel the baby until my 20th or so week since it is my first pregnancy.  I am getting worried as to why I dont feel her (or maybe him) yet.  I do have a stomach growling sensation from time to time.  Is that the baby?  I am getting very antsy as to why I havent felt her yet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Jojo- I think I too felt something going on yesterday.  I finally understood what the fluttering sensation "MIGHT" be.  I am assuming it was the babys movements, but being that it is 9 ounces, I cant imagine feeling sharp kicks yet lol  Congrats on your movement Jojo

I THINK I felt my first movements yesterday.  I'm 20 weeks tomorrow (OMG!  I can't believe I'm halfway there!!!).  Anyhow, my uterus got hard on the one side and I swear it felt like it was turning around or something.  Is that the baby or is that a braxton-hicks contraction that some others were talking about?  It was just on the one side where the baby likes to sit.  I'll have to wait and see if it happens again tonight.  I swear also that I've felt the little flutters, but I don't think I'll know until they get bigger.  And then I'll start posting about how all of the kicking is driving me crazy :-)

Thank you both for your responses.  I went to my doctor yesterday and when I mentioned it to him, he said that my placenta is lying in the area where the babys legs are, therefore acting as a shock absorber and that's why I am not feeling the immense kicks yet.  This eased my mind, but I am still waiting breathless for that special moment when I feel the kicking.  Good luck to all with their pregnancies!!!

Dont feel bad hun. I am 19 weeks tomorrow and this is my second and I am not sure I am feeling anything either. This could be for a lot of reasons. Maybe you are getting them and just dont know the feeling yet, maybe your placenta is in front blocking the feeling, etc.

Hang in there. I too am anxious to feel as I already felt my daughter by now...and it worries me to not feel movement, but am just taking it day by day.

Hi and congrats on your pregnancy.  This is my first pregnancy also, and I can not offer any sound advice.  however, I have been feeling flutters/movement since about 14 weeks.  I am now 21 weeks.  Whenever i wanted to feel my baby move, I drink a glass of Orange Juice or eat something sweet.  That generally stimulates the baby and i can feel the movement.  It takes about a half hour to kick in.   I hope this helps.  And be sure to let us know as soon as you feel your first kick/punch/slap/ or whatever your bunddle of joy does.  It is so special feeling.

Oh yeah, before i forget.  You may have felt it and not know what to feel for because its your first.  thats what my sister kept telling me.
