Good luck to all of you... Soon enough you will hold your precious angel.... I am so happy...
I have mine 2 weeks ago... I love being a mom again and adore my little prince...
I am due on Jan. 28th but she is not in any hurry. So, I am waiting with all of you as well! Good Luck to you all!
well darn, your little one just loves it in there! Sadly for her she can't remain in there for too much longer now that you're overdue. I'll be crossing fingers, toes, eyes, you name it that the big day arrives asap and all goes well for you and bubs. This is my first an I'm turning into a bundle of nerve just thinking how close i am to the big day and that I'm going all natural if all goes to plan. Scary! One thing to go with pain management with meds but another to go medicine free which is alittle scary for me but I'm determined!
So far I've been feeling pretty good....physically. It's the waiting that's the hard part now that I'm late! Especially now that I'm on mat leave, off work with much too much time on my hands to think about it ;-)
I tested negative for GBS too and did the last time as well. That's good - just one less intervention to have to have (antibiotics during labour).
Maybe things will move along quickly for you and you'll progress on your own, even before you need your membranes stripped/swept. I'll cross my fingers for you!
bummer!! Dont you just wish to be unpregnant now, and be able to love and hold them already? My strep B came back negative which was great! I guess ill continue tapping my foot. lol
Thanks for the update :-)
I'm in Canada, too (Ontario) and my OB starts checking at the 38 week appointment - following the one where they swab for Group B Strep. From what I understand, that's pretty standard, at least around here among the OBs. I know that sometimes the exam itself can actually move things along (aggitating the cervix, like you said), but that definitely doesn't work for me - mine is overly competent ;-)
yes If I'm dialted they'll then sweep it. All I know is at the hospital( maternity clinic ward) where I go too, they dont touch the cervix in any shape or form unless there is a good reason and when your at the end of your pregnancy.
I went to my appointment and I inquired about the membrain sweeping and they dont usally chck for dialation durng weekly checkups unless there is a reason too. It he alot to do with not aggitating the cervix and keeping it clear of bacteria etc. Poking and proding asking for trouble is unecessary.Being in Canada I've been reading too many American posts... I assumed it was standard to get checked weekly LOL. Makes sense why they dont do it here unless there is a reason. As for membrain sweeping they can do them after 38 weeks and also check for dialation at the same time. I requested my membrain sweeping and dialation checking when I am in my mid 39 week mark Friday next week.
Let me know how your appointment went! I have asked about membrane sweeping...I was on the SOGC (Society of Obstetricans and Gynecologists of Canada) website today and was reading up on it....apparently, they really only recommend it when the cervix is favourable (ie. starting to dilate/efface) - which definitely isn't my situation.
I hope you've made some progress!!!! :-))
I am heading to my regular weekly doc appointment at the maternity clinic in about an hour, so we will see if I've dialated at all. I'm going to ask about membrain sweeping. I am 38.5 weeks pregnant and so ready!
I have 7 days til my c-section. I cannot wait!!!!
