I raised two boys with drop down rails, never had a problem with mine or my sisters or friends, just have to watch them and i agree with spiket, put a pin in it and you will not have to worry at all.
I was given a crib that has a drop bar on one side. We decided to set it up anyway and my husband added a security pin to the rail so it won't drop unless you take that out. I bet you guys can figure something out like that too just to really make sure it is safe. I didn't see the point in throwing out a perfectly good crib if we could modify it to make it more secure. This way...we can still use the drop mechanism when we need to but unsure it won't fall on accident.
Hi~
I'm a clerk of one baby crib factory in China, and I can tell you that your worry is redundant. We designed and produced on the basis of standard. If your baby grew older, you can convert the crib to a toddler bed. There are many models in the market.
Hello -
Thanks for your replies - Problem solved - one of my friends has a drop rail crib and is willing to give it to me.
I'm not concerned when the baby is sitting or standing up, I'm mainly concerned when you put a sleeping baby in the crib and have to lean over.
I had checked the Canadian websites and couldn't find any.
I hear what your saying, we just put our fixed rail crib together last night, and I can see getting baby in and out being a bit of an issue, especially with a bad back. I agree that for the most part baby will be able to sit up/pull self up once you put mattress in lower position, but at the same time you have to make sure you change the position before baby is able to do this otherwise they may be able to tip themselves out of crib, and also if your placing baby in crib after they have fallen asleep it would be difficult aswell.
I don't believe they sell new cribs with the drop-down rails here anymore either (Canada), but I do believe you are still able to buy used cribs with them aslong as they aren't ones that have been recalled.
Not much help, sorry.
Well i think that by the time you drop the mattress the baby will be big enough that he or she will sit up up pull itself up useing the rails so your hubby wont have to lean over very much to get the baby out..have you thought of getting the crib that the side rail is bolted at different levels it dont just slide up and down you have to actually unscrew the bolts to lower the rail, that is what we have so when we lowered the mattress we lowered the rail..they are usually like that ith the 3-1 or 4-1 sets..i hope this helped a little
