formula not filling baby?

My son will be 5 weeks tomorrow but formula doesn't seem to be filling him. We keep trying to raise the oz that we give him but he would not always eat it all, fall asleep, and then wake up an hour latter to eat more but never seems satisfied. My mother in law told me that when my husband was only 6 weeks and doing the same thing she would put very little rice cereal in his formula and he had stopped and gone back to normal, seeming full and slept like he used to. It also never messed with his belly any and he was just fine. I would like to know if any one else has done this at all.
Please no bashing or judgeing my mother in law. My husband gew up to very healthy.

I have been told by my doctors all 3 babies never GI e rice cereal in a bottle. If I had the urge to do it do it w a spoon and never before 3,months. Some of these doctors smh. I'd probably never.go to.

My son is going through the same thing and the doctor said to put rice cereal into his formula to fill him up. He is 7 weeks old and had been eating 6oz every 2 hours now he is eating 4oz with rice cereal every 4 hours. My husband was also on cereal early as well and he turned out perfectly fine and healthy.

He may just be going through a growth spurt, it's typical for a 4/5 week old to do this but you can always call your child's doctor and see what they say. Your baby's digestive system isn't ready for cereal until 4-6 months old.
