I know breastfeeding is important but i honestly would stwitch to formula so the baby is getting more and sleeping better at night. Ready made formula is thicker and baby will be fuller. My sister in law went thru this and her baby lost over a pound would scream and cry because he wasnt satisfied dr made her stop breastfeeding and formula feed. I formula feed my daughter is 5 weeks she sleeps 5hrs during the night
As long as she's eating every 3-4 hours and you let her feed until she seems satisfied, you'll be fine. My daughter was eating every 3-4 hours at that age and she gained 3lbs her first month- she's chunky. If you over feed, she can get an upset tummy and become fussy.
At mrsp416 really that's awesome my daughter is 4 weeks old she's not sleeping through the night yet I'm super exhausted. I'm glad yours is can't wait to be able to get 5 hours sleep. @Sananannu my sister told me to take the baby a bath around 6, 7 o'clock ish wash her hair and she'll sleep straight through the night it worked for her son. I tried it twice she slept for 2 to 3 hours so it hasn't really work for me but will keep trying you can try it too see if it works for your daughter and let me know.
Thx Nola...i got very lucky she is a great baby. Went to dr the other day she is 11lbs 22 3/4 inches. She was 8lb 11oz at birth jan 9th LOL. Good eater and sleeper. If you formula feed do you use ready made or powder? Powder is thinner doesnt hold baby as long.
Thankyou so much everyone, mrsp416 im giving her one bottle in 24 hours cz my husband doesn't allow me to give her more, he says its not healthy :( shes gaining weight so far which is a good sign and because of that even my doctor told me breastfeed her and avoid bottle feed :( due to which my husband got even more rigid with his stance..
I don't mind breastfeeding my baby but I don't know if its normal that my baby keeps feeding for two to three hours sometimes and that only happens in the nights.. Shes totally fine in the days.. Two hours sleep and half an hour of breastfeed.. She also has gas issues :(
NolaM, iv been doing that in the days and it works as she sleeps for straight three four hours but im not doing it in the night cz of winters she may catch cold..
My baby was doing the same thing this week. He was gaining weight fine, but would wake up after 20 minutes and want to feed. So, pretty much He wasn't sleeping at all, and all he wanted to do was feed. I learned he was over tired, and that he loves to suck on things. Turns out he hated the type of pacifier we were giving him, and as soon as we switched it out with a different brand he took it and fell straight to sleep. Now we are doing feed on each side for about 20 min. per side, burp, change diaper, give him his pacifier and swaddle him and put him to bed. He sleeps for about 2.5 hours for each nap during the day, and then had been sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at night (he is 3 weeks old). Hang in there, I was at my wits end earlier this week, it can be so frustrating when they don't sleep.
It sounds like baby is a cluster feeder. My son went through that. Keep in mind that newborns go through growth spurts about every 7 to 10 days. They will be fussier and want to nurse constantly. Sometimes I feel like my nipples are going to fall off. Lol (sorry tmi). It won't last forever though. Keep doing what you're doing mama. It will get better
Soothie pacifiers... my saving grace. Lol
My dr. Said after 30 minutes on each breast there is no nutritional value and baby is using you as a pacifier. He said to offer binky after an hour.
