When do they start checking??

Does anyone know when the doctor/midwife generally starts checking for dilation??  At my last appoinment (28 weeks), I was suprised that they started scheduling me every 2 weeks already!  I go for my 30 week appt tomorrow, and just wondered if they would start checking for dilation yet.  I can't remember from my previous pregnancies, so if anyone can share from their experience, that would be great.

Also, when is the Strep B test performed?

Thanks!

My dr won't induce me due to the complications I have had which is a subchroniac hematoma. He is not sure if it totally dissolved and if I'm induced meaning put on pitocin I could hemmoraghe! So I will let my dr do the guiding! Every pg and situation is different. My pg has not been a typical one and also when you have had more than one baby typically your body prepares for labor quicker! Good luck!

I asked my doc this at my last appt, he said usually about 3 weeks before you're due.  Also, just as a heads up, no need for concern on the every-two-weeks now.  It's standard practice to see you every four weeks at first, then once you hit 28 weeks (your third trimester), they start doing every two weeks, then your last month they will see you every week.

i too have had a lot of complications (go us, ladybug!!) and my perinatologist said this morning they will not let me go past 38 wks, likely 37, and that my condition almost always results in preterm labor anyway, so they will probably keep a closer eye on my cervix now.  i am 33 weeks.

I'm not sure - I just had my 35 week appt and don't go back until 37 weeks and I think they are doing the Strep B then, but I'm not sure if I will get checked then or not.  I've been wondering when they will start bc at my ultrasound this week my little one is in position and his head was WAY low (I was wondering where she was going with that probe! HA!).  And I've been having the little shooting pains and lots of BH, but I figure its normal and haven't really mentioned it to my Dr.  If he doesn't check me next time - I'm definitely gonna ask.

My dr started with my first at 36 wks but since I have had alot of complications this whole pg and that this is my 4th and vag u/ss have confirmed cervical changes that is why mine checks me. I have a huge amount of pelvic pain it seriously feels broken. That is most likely dilation happening again! Ouch! Good luck! If you feel like something is going on ask them to check it can't hurt it's better to be safe than sorry!'

I get my strep B test next week, 34 weeks. Most OB's start checking for dilation at 36 or 37 weeks. It may vary from doc to doc though.
