Shortening cervix

Hi everyone... I am 24 weeks 4 days pregnant with twins and I have a shortening cervix. It is 2.2cm and I am also having contractions. I asked my doc about bed rest, but he said don't worry. Should I get a second opinion? Everything I am reading is suggesting that I should go on bed rest.

Yea bedrest is the best thing right now. I am 33 weeks and 3cm. At 25 weeks I was 1cm, put on strict bedrest and my cervix started shortening as well. I had preterm labor last pregnancy and was on bedrest as well. I delivered at 36w3d and hoping to at least get to that point this time around. I also had the fetal fibronectin test and steroid shots almost 3 weeks ago and it was positive as well. I'm still hanging on though thankfully. That test isn't very accurate and doesn't really determine if you will deliver early or not, but you are more at risk if it's positive. Stay off your feet as much as possible!

My doc did a fetal fibronectin test and it came back positive. They put me on immediate modified bedrest.

i have had the same thing happen to me at 23 weeks my high risk doctor put and emergency cerclage in (stiched my cervix and bed rest ) .. i would def go see a high risk dr and you should def be on bed rest and get a second opinion but hurry because they can only put the cerclage in by 24 weeks you don't want the twins to come to early

At my 20wk ultrasound with my previous two pregnancies my cervix measured short; about the same as yours. They did not put me on bed rest, but they did check my cervix for dilation at each visit. At 32wks I started to dilate; I was at 2cm. That is when they put me on bed rest. I ended up delivering my first at 35wks and my second at 38wks.

Hope this was helpful. Best of luck to you!!!
