It's really not any cleaner, I was told that is the equivalent to cutting off a woman's hood. And I have no hygiene issues down there. lol. But really, if you raise him to be a clean person, and teach him how to properly clean it, then that should not be an issue. It is a parenting choice not a medical one.

NO. I am not going to get my son circumcised. Go to intact america . org (w/out spaces) or no circ . org. That will have some information to help you make your decision... or make it harder. lol sorry. It's just that no medical professional organization in the entire world recommends routine circumcision. It is becoming more and more of a social norm to be left intact. CDC will have stats for you. :)
Either way, good luck w/ your decision.

Yeah, we're not getting it done. It's really not medically necessary and my moms friend was over the other night, and her 19 year old step son is not circumcised and he's fine with it. He doesn't struggle at all with the confidence issue and is actually glad that his parents decided not to do it. And I know too many babies that have been hospitalized and had spinal taps at 4 days old bc of infection from it. And my fiancee doesn't want it done either.

We are for sure getting it done. My uncle waited until he was an adult and said it was the worst thing that he ever had happen to him. But i was told that its no different than when a little girl gets her ears pierced hurts for a sec and then they forget. Its cleaner and better for them in the long run as far as STD;s and so on.

My husband is not circumcised and does not agree with it. I'm leaving it up to him. In Australia the new trend is to not put babies through this unless medically necessary due to some problem with the penis. Doctors now say it is just as clean to have an un circumcised penis.

I agree with doing it when they're younger if you're going to do it. I just know I'm going to have a really hard time sending my baby away to get his foreskin cut off while he's awake and alert. My fiancee doesn't want it done, even though he is circumcised. I'm not worried about him being teased when he's older or like, it reducing the risk of std's, bc wearing a condom or abstinence is clearly more effective. I am, however, concerned about the difficulty of keeping it clean throughout his childhood. I don't want to not get it done, and then have a baby that's in pain from a UTI or yeast infection constantly. I know that people say it's just as easy to keep clean, but it still concerns me, I've never cleaned an uncircumcised penis before. And the other thing is.....if someone else is watching him, and changes his diapers, and doesn't really know what to do, or they're too lazy to do it. IDK. I just feel that, for me, it's a harder decision to make than just bc daddy is, for cosmetic reasons. =/

I got my son circumcised because my husband is, too.  It was really my husband's decision, since I don't have those parts & can't offer a real opinion on the matter - lol  But, the procedure is really fast and I have heard that some babies don't even cry.  I didn't watch my son with his (they obviously did it in a different room than my recovery room), but we did it before we left the hospital, when he was a day or two old.  I never saw him upset by it or have any obvious pain later.  He'll never remember the procedure, and honestly, I really don't think that it's all that bad for them - as far as pain goes.  I mean, I'm no baby boy, but if you want him to be circumcised, I think it's best to do it when they're too young to remember.  I always hear that it's way worse for older men.

Yes, I am getting my son circumcised. My father was an adult when he got it done and he said it was painful, but he felt it was the right decision because men just do care for their parts the way we do. He also made sure my brother was done at birth so he would have no memory. My son will be done the same.

The amount of pain that they have to endure. My friend just graduated from nursing school, she had to attend a circumcision and she said that it was awful and that she has never been so shook by a procedure until that one. She also said that she always thought without a doubt that if she had a son she would circumcise him, but after seeing that she's undecided.
