Monday Updates

Well, we did it!  We converted her crib to a toddler bed :)  I was so nervous that it would be a battle to get her to stay in bed, but it wasn't at all.  The 1st night she went down like normal.  The next day at nap time, she did get up twice and I went in to her room Super Nanny style and just picked her up, put her back in bed, kissed her forehead, and left the room.  And, she stayed in bed!  That night was fine... she didn't get up at all.  The 3rd day, nap time, I found her sitting on her wicker chair reading books.  So, same thing... just picked her up and put her back in bed and she went to sleep.  And, since then it has been just fine.  Something really cute... the 2nd night she walked into our bedroom at 12:45am, opened the door, and shouted "HI DADDY!  HI MOMMY!"  John and I let her snuggle for 20 minutes and then put her back into her bed, but ughh... melted my heart!

Next task to tackle... potty training.  If any of you have started, tips are welcomed!  Lord knows I will need them :)

Thats about all the changes/updates for us.

Ovaz -- your post was so funny - I can picture little lei in her chair reading during bedtime, so cute!

Kele, my neighbor is going through the SAME thing with speech. Her daughter is 3 months younger and she started early intervention - she has therapy once a week (two different development people come to her house and work with her daughter - each for an hour). The difference is AMAZING. She is speaking more now and what they found was a lot of her muscles in her jaw were under-developed. They gave her a list of foods to try to help build them up - like taffy, starburst, etc. She completely understands, she just lacks in forming the words and getting them out there.

The program is totally funded by the state. Look into it! If you can get tips now that help, why not? If you need more info - let me know.

Kele... this may sound random, but what about his hearing?  Has the pediatician suggested maybe a hearing test for him?

Not much different here with Phin. He still is not talking at all. on occasion he will say ball and he got out a momma the other day but other than that nothing.

We are getting a bit concerned but hopefully he will get there. The ped said if by his 2 year checkup there is no change then we will be referred to a speech therapist. ugh.

Physically he leads the pack. His fine and gross motor skills are unrivaled, he can use child safety scissors perfectly and do lots of those small fidgety things with ease...but ask him to say scissors and he just wanders away from you.

Zach is doing great, he is huge! He comes to school with me and does fairly well and everyone loves to love him.
