non-understanding midwife rant

Just wanted a  bit of a rant to get it off my chest. I have spd (causing  lot of pain from my pelvis moving too much) and me/cfs (which one problem is fatigue not relieved by rest, and which exercise does not give you the energy boost like normal but instead can cause worsening and more permanent symptoms). My midwife does not seem to understand either of these conditions, and makes me feel belittled and misunderstood

my midwife really doesn't understand m.e. or spd. She said today she'sworried i'll just sit down all day when i'm off on maternity, and i'll put on too much weight. No i'm not doing exercise at the moment because work is more than enough, but i'm not lazy but fatigue was a problem BEFORE pregnancy and being kept awake by pelvic pain, and as sitting too long really aggrevates the spd its not likely. She also said no pregnancy is pain free -no, but most pregnant women can walk/move  without being in agony, sometimes i cant start walking when i first stand because if i lift up ne leg to start, the agony is so bad i feel like i'm going to collapse.

Last visit she said i should exercise more, when i said i got home exhausted from work each evening, and took the weekend to recover from the week, she said exercise will give me energy - not with ME it doesn't! It took me a good while to get back to working the hours i work after my last relapse from overdoing it and now i'm pregnant too! And too much walking causes me more pain with the spd, which i do enough of during work.

Rant over, anyone else having similar problems?

I know how you feel hun.... I have not been diagnosed with this but am 100% sure i suffer from it.....fortunately its pregnancy induced for me and I seem to only have gotten this problem due to the pregnancy.... My doc does not seem to know much about it either and tends to think that its just a simple symptom of pregnancy..... and I agree to a point.... I am sure we all experience a certain amount of pressure and pain in the pubic area BUT sometimes i can barely walk and the pain is REAL and it really hurts, its more thatn mere discomfort, its down right painful at times.... so I do know how you feel! I would definitely say GET ANOTHER DR or Midwife if she is not listening to you and taking your concerns as valid ones......My doc doesnt know much about it but he does listen and try to help... he even reduced my hours bc sitting just does NOT help it at all... I hope all works out for you!

I am sorry I don't know what spd means? but my girlfriend had a midwife and she was similar in her tough love routine. I never wanted a midwife after I saw how she was. I understand the pain . I have a severe back problems my whole pregnancy and have to go to the chiro 3 times a week. So exercise is out for me too ! I didn't pack on the pounds . I think every woman is intune with there own bodies and knows what their limits are so just listen to what yours is telling you and tell her to back off! I hope that helps .
