developmental toys

Hi - I use a few things for Hayden on a daily basis - bumbo seat, activity mat, papasan vibrating chair, mobile in crib. She loves these animal flashcards by Wee Gallery - which you can line up in the crib or on the changing table. She loves the lamaze mirror and "mortimer the moose" -- so what other development and entertainment toys do you recommend?

I have this play mat that lays on the floor and it has fish and bubbles and it spins LOL Gives me a headache but Noah likes it! I take him outside ALOT he LOVES to look around..... he will start crying when I take him back inside the house! So we spend alot of time outside! He loves to watch the fan lol silly boy, and likes to look at colorful pictures in some childrens books i have.... I do give him rattles to play with but he just ends up dropping them and playing with his burp cloth or blanket lol, Everything goes right to his mouth~

Yesterday I was planting flowers and I put Blake in her vibrating chair (I took the activity bar off) and put her on the porch in the shade. She LOVED it. She loved looking around at everything outside and when the wind would blow she would giggle and open her mouth..haha. I recommend trying it if you haven't yet!

I drew faces and shapes on paper plates and Carter loves them, just black and white. He likes his play mat and is obsessed with the bubbles on the aquairum bouncy chair, I feel like a bad mom he spends so much time in it, but he cries to be put in it

I do the same things as the other ladies here. However we have a nurse visit our home once a month to check up on baby (insurance pays for this) and she told me that I needed to read to Mark as well. Infants need to hear the words and seeing bright pictures helps their vision.
You really don't need to think about other developmental toys until baby is about 6 months old.

A friend of mine had this tummy time activity mat by Lamaze.  The baby lays on this stool thing and can spin around and there is a whole bunch of activities for them to do.  Mady hates tummy time but loved this, i am ordering one this week.  Otherwise same activities as you listed here too.  I just took out a book from yhe library I will let you know if there is anything good in there!!!!!

I give Blake rattles and smaller items like teething rings etc that she can grasp and practice holding...but other than that you and I do about the same things. What are the flashcards?? Where do you get them?
