Buy a baby doll that cries so they can hear the sounds and get use to it. Also if thwy get jealous with attention hold and cuddle the doll tonsee reactions and so they see you holding something else. I have had a few friends do this and they said it helped. Good luck!

Thanks, I also make time to love on him, he's gotten to where he'll lay his head on my tummy n baby kicks him I tell him baby Evie is saying hi n playing. Now anytime I can't feel her moving much I sit with him n she'll start kicking n he paws back. Its a fun little game. He is extremely spoiled, he was my last "baby" and so I'm doing everything I can to make him included in our surprise baby.

Doesn't sound silly at all!  You are doing the right thing by preparing your dog for your baby! :)

Sounds a little silly but I had same concern with my little Scotty. He's really protective of me n gets jealous of my older kids. So a friend suggested we get a baby doll that smells like an infant and that cries wrap it n baby blankets n stuff n when watching TV or just relaxing holding it so lucky can get used to mom holding someone other than him and he can get used to baby sounds. He didn't like it at first but is learning he can sit beside me or at my feet when baby is in my arms. He barked at the crying a lot at first not so much now tho. I'm hoping by training this behavior now it won't be an issue when real baby gets here n march. I also reward with love n treats when he does as I want. Good luck

^^ I agree completely. Have your spouse bring in a something everyday and give it to the dog. Blankets hats clothes etc and let then smell it and cuddle with it  this way the smell won't be so strange   also do not lock the pup out of the nursery. Let them in to sniff around and get used to the baby things too

My little dog is always trying to be alpha and always has. She snipped at our baby once while I was holding her on the couch. We have to be really strong with our dog and maintain control at all times. She gets put in her kennel whenever we feel it is appropriate, which gives her her own space to chill out. She's better now that our daughter is 2. But you never know how a dog will respond, so just keep an eye on them and you'll be able to tell how they are adjusting. I'm hoping our dog has learned from our first baby that she either behaves or goes in her kennel!

I'm hoping so!  :) always worried they might not like baby, but if they don't sad to say, baby wins and they will find a new home with another family member!

Ha ha no worries! :) we have 2 dogs. A little dog who's a mutt, and a big dog that's a lab put bull chow mix!  They are both really sweet, but the big one gets jealous and sometimes aggressive, and the little one jumps a lot!  Just hoping they will adjust well to the baby that's all:)

What kind of dog??? Do you have more kids or first time mommy?? 2 short stories my brother and his girlfriend had there son and have a pitbulll. She did not let the baby leave her sight. When the baby cried she whimpered. When we brought our baby home we had a beagle she just sniffed her and kinda walked away like no big thing. Most dog just know your pregnant and when that baby comes home they take over the baby in their eyes!!!
