Bottle Brands

Hi ladies-
Ok so my DH and I just finished up registering the other day, all except picking out what type of bottles we are going to use.  I plan to breastfeed, so i haven't really done a lot of research on the different types and which ones come recommended.  So i guess i jusst wanted to see if any of you mommies or soon to be have any suggestions on where to start or experience that you have had in the past that make you use one type or another.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

i picked up a bunch of AVENT on ebay awhile ago.....and this past week picked up the AVENT microwave sterilizer.... i never did the sterilizing thing before but it is worth a shot especially if it is as easy as it looks....lol

i also have 1 gerber "drop in" bottle w/a few liners.... never cared for them before but it was free sooo i figured i could have it on hand.

F.Y.I: I spoke to my OB and asked about bottles and she said that she tried the Dr. Brown's, but there are a ton of pieces and being a new mom she didn't want to spend all of her time washing bottle parts.  So, she suggested AVENT and that's what I have decided to go with.

with my kids i used the cheap dollar tree/family dollar kind or the cutsey ones from walmart...the only thing i had to do was use the rubber/latex nipples for my daughter as she didnt care for the silicon ones. with my boys you couldnt find those type so they took the clear silicon and were fine.  i have already bought one cheapie bottle from Family Dollar...it was how i told bf that i was preg...i put the test into the bottle and handed it to him...lol
i also have bought a whole case of gerber 9oz bottles(just the colored plastic bottles) on ebay brand new never used....figured i would try to resell them if i dont use them.  AND i have bought a dozen of both 5 and 9 oz AVENT bottles.
i am planning on breastfeeding for the first little while but will probably supplement after the first 6 weeks or so if my milk doesnt come in....which it never did with the other children (with my youngest was the only one that it even came in a little-slight engorgement) and so i am trying to be prepared. am planning on picking up at least ONE can of dry formula just in case so that i have some on hand if i end up not being able to nurse.
have heard that AVENT is the best which is why i picked some up (14 bottles with everything for each one---10 bucks on ebay...lol)

as everyone else says, i plan on breastfeeding as well but i did put some bottles on my list just diff ones i was told by my doctor and others that were good i put avent, vent-air, nuk, and nuby on my list, i heard nuby bottles were very good once the babies hit about 2-3 months old.

Avent was also formulated to go with breastfed babies, that's what we finally decided to go with, after much research, I even did a poll on the pregnancy forum, and Avent got the highest votes, I just read that you had to be careful not to make the lid too tight as it can cause them to leak, and you must replace the ring, and nipples every 2 months, which you are supposed to do with any bottle.

I think I saw the other day where AVENT is specialized in colic/reflux now.  So, that may be the route to go.  I think I'm going to keep the Dr. Browns and see.

I like AVENT in general.  Dr. Brown's is good if your child has reflux (as mine did), but he always preferred his AVENT bottles.

I also have already purchased some Dr. Browns, but have also been told that they are a real pain.
Also when registering we saw some that were supposed to be the most like breastfeeding making for an easy transition.  So i think i may look into those as an option.
I haven't really heard much about AVENT, but i may have to look into those too!!
Just so much to learn!!!!

I'm in the same boat.  I have Dr. Browns on my registry.  A lot of people suggested them.  But, I was talking to a girlfriend of mine and she said she hated them because of all the parts to clean, but I can't find what she is talking about.  She breastfed and then used Avent bottles.  I think I'm going to stick with Dr. Browns and just see.  If I see Reece doesn't like them, I'll take back what I can and swap them for something else.
