About baby Update*

Okay its almost May ladies, and we have lost track of this forum.  So I want to do an update.  Its all about baby just like beforre but adding anything new in.. Ill go ahead and start

Okay My name is Ammanda, I am 20 years old, Engaged to Drew for a year now.  I am now 33 weeks and 4 days.  Due may 7th!  This is my first baby.  And its is a lil boy!! His name is Cole Patrick!  I had my last ultra sound at 30 weeks and he was so precious and he looks just like his daddy.  At my 32 week check up my uterus wasnt exaclt measuring what it should, I should have been 32 cm but I was only 28 cm.  So If i dont catch up by 36 weeks Im going to be getting induced, because he is running out of room.  I have my 34 week check up tomorrow and I hope things are progressing along.  I had my baby shower 2 weeks ago and that went so well.  I got alot of stuff.. We have everything we need, and the nursery is all set up, now were just waiting for him to come.  I cant wait!  I love him so much already, there really isnt a minute that goes by that he doesnt have his foot or hand poking out my side, and I love that feeling it makes me tear up sometimes.  Only 6 weeks to go for me!!!

I look forward to hearing all about whats been going on with all the other May babies!!  Hope everything is well.. Its almost here!

So I did some further reading last night on the subject.  Some of my books say it is the same thing and others say it is different.  So needless to say I am still rather confused.  I did lose some more of it last night after walking quite a bit.  No cramps or anything yet so I think I am still a ways off.  I go to the doctor next Tuesday, so I will find out then what progress I have been making.

I'm still a little confused as to what exactly it is.  Both say it can be tinted brown, so I'm not sure.  I guess only time will tell.  I did use the exercise ball last night, so maybe that is what started to speed things up.

Here's what else I found:

Bloody show:

It's show time! What causes the bloody show during pregnancy and what passing your mucous plug really means.
What it is: "Bloody show," a pink- or brown-tinged stringy mucus discharge, is a sign that your cervix is dilating and/or effacing. This is a definite signal that you're well on your way toward labor and delivery.

What causes it: This "passage" means the blood vessels in the cervix are rupturing as the cervix begins to open up. (This is a good, normal thing.)

What you need to know about it: If you've experienced the bloody show, you can usually expect to go into labor within the next several days — unless you're a fast starter, in which case you could be going into labor within the next several hours. (Nice and predictable, right?) In general, though, bloody show means you can hurry up and wait. And you won't know for sure that labor has arrived until you feel those first real contractions. So when you see that bloody show, get ready — but don't head out the door just yet.

What to do about the bloody show:

Keep an eye on the discharge. If it seems heavy (more than two tablespoons) or turns bright red, contact your practitioner ASAP. Bleeding could be a sign of placenta previa or placenta abruption, both of which require immediate medical attention.
Otherwise, just get ready for show time, Mom!

And the mucous plug:

Discharging the mucous plug — that gelatinous "cork" that seals the opening of your uterus during pregnancy — can happen in a number of ways. Some women notice pieces of the plug (vaginal discharge that resembles thick white mucus sometimes tinged with blood) weeks before labor is slated to begin, with more dislodging as D-day approaches. Others lose their mucous plug in one fell swoop. You may notice its passage, or miss it entirely — especially if you're the flush-and-rush type. (If there's any significant change in discharge before 37 weeks, call your doctor immediately to rule out preterm labor.)

While losing your mucous plug is a sign that your cervix is softening, it could be hours, days, or weeks before labor actually starts. On the other hand, if you spot stringy mucous discharge streaked with blood (known in the birthing business as "bloody show", pack your bag. This means the blood vessels in the cervix are rupturing as it softens, dilates, and effaces. Labor is probably just a day or two away — so get ready!

I would say your blody slow, so maybe its gonna be soon... Mine hasnt had any blood in it or color. so i dont know, but most people dont lose there actual blood one till there in labor. We will never know.. lol

According to this it's different -
During pregnancy, your cervical opening becomes blocked with a thick plug of mucus that prevents bacteria from entering the uterus. When your cervix begins to loosen, this mucous plug is dislodged. Some women notice the passage of the mucous plug (what exactly is that in the toilet?), others don't (especially if you're the flush-and-rush type). Unfortunately, the discharge of the mucous plug is in no way a reliable indicator of when labor might begin. It could be hours, days, or even weeks before real contractions begin.

A somewhat more reliable indicator of impending labor is the passage of the bloody show — a stringy mucous discharge tinged with pink or brown blood. Such "bleeding" means the blood vessels in the cervix are rupturing as it dilates and effaces.  Once you've watched the bloody show, labor is probably just a day or two away — though don't try to set your watch (or your labor stopwatch) to it, since it's not a definite timetable. But do make sure your bag is packed.

Well mine was slimy with a hint of brown - so is that the bloody show or the mucus plug?  I'm confused : )

I am losing it little by little so far.  I am excited, but starting to get a little nervous.  The little one has been pretty quite in there since yesterday afternoon.  He is still moving around, but he hasn't been moving at his normal peak times.  I've heard this is a sign they are resting up for labor.  My sister said when she lost her plug, she went into labor that day.  I think she is confusing the mucus plug with the blood show, because they are different right?  I have had no contractions or cramps today.  My lower back is a little sore, but nothing unsual.  Other than feeling very tired, because I only got three hours of sleep last night, I feel like I normal have.

Not sure if I have started to lose my mucus plug or not.  Last night I went to the bathroom and noticed a small amount of snotty like discharge with a hint of blood.  I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't of been checking.  I did notice some more small little pieces in the toilet. When I went to the bathroom this morning, nothing.  I am not sure if it is part of the plug or if I am irritated from the exam I had earlier this week.  I'll just have to keep hoping it's the plug : )

I feel like you do!  Lately the little one has been kicking and pressing on my stomach like he wants to get out.  All I can think is - I want you out too : )  Hehe.  It does feel like he is teasing me almost.  People keep saying how low I am and how I look like I have dropped over the past week.  I guess that's why I was frustrated when I didn't see a change.  She also said my stomach is measuring about the same.  However, when I went to put on one of the few t-shirts that fit around my stomach it didn't fit.  I don't get it.  When you feel changes and feel different, but the results don't show it, it's frustrating.  Also I am getting sick of not knowing what is really normal or what is happening to my body since it is different for everyone.  There hasn't been a baby in our family in 18 years, so most of my family doesn't exactly remember what their symptoms were.

Hey hun, glad to hear everything went well.. Dont you love how we wait so long and are so excited for our next appointment, and then it comes and your just thinking "wow that was pretty normal, I wonder why i was so excited" lol  I do that everytime.  I know how you feel, i hit 37 weeks last week and i was so happy and now ive been just waiting and waiting for me to go into labor, and still nothing.lol.. Im getting ahead of myself, but i really think my baby is teasing me, I started losing my mucous plug 3 weeks ago, started menstral cramping 3 weeks ago, and started getting really bad back pain 2 weeks ago. And hes been really low for about a month now.  And almost 2 weeks ago i was at 1 cm.. And still nothing... Uh, this baby is playing mind tricks and being as stubborn as his daddy!

Saw the MD today for my 37 week appointment.  Things are basically the same as my last appointment.  She said I am a little over a 1cm dialated and my cervix is pretty soft.  I have been having menstral like cramps since yesterday.  She said that could either be BH or my cervix softening.  At little disappointed things are moving along further, but I guess I have to remind myself I am just at 37 weeks now.

had a bit of my mucus plug come out the other day, then had my baby shower on 17th and have been a little more wet here lately. then around midnight after baby shower woke up to some pretty strong braxton hicks but were irregular and went away after about an hour. i am told all the time "youll never make it to the 9th" lol so it might be soon. i definetly feel its right around the corner. getting nervous! since i know what to expect during labor, i am a little more nervous each time i give birth lol

Hello ladies...My name is Amy, I am 36 weeks tomorrow...My due date is May 17 and it's a girl...Her name is Kaylee Grace...I have been married to my husband it will be 10 years in October...We tried for a couple of years on our own and was unsuccessful...So last year we had to get help from the doc...I was dx with PCOS...So here we are...This is our first child...We truely see her as being a miracle...I am getting so excited to meet her...My pregnancy has been pretty normal I would say even though we had all kinds of stuff going on...My brother passed away in Sept. and two days after we layed him to rest is when we found out I was pregnant...Then a week later we found out that my dad had liver cancer so the next few months after that we were dealing with all of that...In Dec. his liver doc put him on hospice right before Christmas and a few days before then was when we found out it was a girl and I am so happy he got to be at that ultrasound, cause we lost my dad the 2nd of Feb. My brother has three boys, so this is the first girl... So its been a very eventful pregnancy and thats why I truely believe God works in wonderful ways and our little Kaylee is a Gift from God!
We have her nursery all ready to go but of course have a bassinet in our room so she will be with us for some time...It is so nice to read other stories on here...I wish all you a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy and birth of all the beautiful gifts that we all have been given!
