tight belly

Hi ladies, so I am 38 weeks today and I have been having this really sharp pain in my vagina, it  feels like the baby is trying to come out! Also my belly will get very tight and stiff for about a minute and then go away. I figured it was Braxton Hicks contractions but there is no pain. I only have a little back pain that pretty much just lingers from time to time. I was wondering if anyone else is or has experienced the same thing and did you go into labor soon?

I have had a ton of false labour and BH contractions since about 34 weeks (even got put off work due to signs/symptoms of pre-term labour, and put on bed rest). I was told the sharp pains in the vagina were the baby's head pushing on my cervix. Is this your first baby? If not, it's extremely common to have these pains as your pelvic floor is not as tight. Also, you can feel more pain in your inner thighs due to this. The painless tightening does sound like BH contractions. They can be painful as well, I had 9 contractions in 15 minutes at the hospital on Tuesday, but they were "unproductive", therefore BH... :o(  I'm now 9 days to my due date, and still nothing.  If you're concerned at all, go to the hospital and get checked out, that's what they're there for. I've gone in twice now, and this is my second baby (3rd preg.) and they totally didn't treat me like I was crazy or wasting their time (which I thought they would, lol!). I thought for sure I would know when it was the real deal, but I guess not, lol! Hope this helps. Good luck to you, it won't be long now! :o)
