Hospital Bag

I was suppose to pack this thing last month but too many delays.. Anyway, what things do I need to pack for my son and myself? I tend to over pack so im trying to get all the essentials so I won't have so much extra stuff to grab on the way out or bring back home..

I'm so glad to know that.. I was about to buy a $35 nursing bra from the hospital gift store! Now I can just go to target!

I bought those last time and completely avoided the nursing bra w/ nursing shirt combo nightmare! Glad to know they're still available since I have two and they are looking a little worn.

I got a nursing tank top thing from target it was 20 bucks but I figured I could just wear that most of the time instead of buying a bra and trying to find a shirt that would work with it...its super comfy too!

I haven't found a nursing bra that was comfy yet... and i have been trying.  The one store told me to find the warners ones that they were the most comfortable but they didn't carry them.    its just frusterating that is for sure.

Yeah, I should pack too! You might want to check what your hospital supplies. Ours supplies diapers, clothes to use as wipes, creams, etc but I have heard that not all do. I did pack outfits but we just didn't seem to get to them and she seemed fine in the soft cotton shirts and blankets provided.

For me, I stayed in lounge wear/pjs throughout my stay but wish I had brought my slippers. I'm a comfort hound. Keep in mind you likely won't be back to pre-pregnancy size for a while so I would suggest your loosest non-maternity clothes, or just go ahead and bring maternity clothes that fit you at 5-6 months (I would guess from my first). I also appreciated having my favorite pillow that smelled like home (sensitive to the heavy cleaners used in commercial settings). I also really like having my own toiletries. Other than that, laptop, movies, music, books - whatever keeps you occupied. You might want to check, but they might not have technology you expect - for example, for our daughter's delivery, we assumed we would bring movies to help pass time... it turns out they only had VHS machines and hadn't upgraded to DVD players in every rooms yet (this was 4 years ago!).

It might sound weird but you might want to bring some snacks... typically, they do not allow any substantial food to laboring mothers in American hospitals (not sure where you are). My labor was also very long and I went 16+ hours without food after hospital admission. Thankfully, she was born near lunchtime so they gave me lunch right away, but I still called room service for an extra meal a day at night when I was in hospital, re-fueling and getting through the first few sleepless nights. It turns out they don't feed accompanying fathers so it would have really helped to have some granola bars or something for my poor husband, especially during labor and for the first few hours of baby's life so he doesn't pass out from hunger or feel the need to leave during this special bonding time.

You need clothes for you, something like Pj's so that you are comfy and an outfit to go home in.  outfits for baby , probably going to go through a few at the hospital.  "granny panties"  as the teachrer from prenatal class put it because you don't want to wear the paper ones from the hospital.  they give you pads but if you want different ones that are less diaper like I'm told to bring them with you. your tolietries bag with your toothbrush, bursh etc in it.  A nursing bra  and then some receiving blankets and clothes for dad.   I guess he gets to help you in the shower so he may get wet and need a new outfit too.
