Being Induced

Being induced the 24th. Only 6 more days. I'm so nervous. This is my first baby. And I have really really bad anxiety so I make the nerves even worse  for myself. I have a huge fear of things going wrong or getting a c section. What should I expect with being induced? My last appt with my doc is on Tuesday. What are some good questions I should ask her?

When you get induced, you will go through the check in questions, verifying weight and medical history. They will check your cervix and may place a cervidil or similar compound to help your cervix thin and dialate. You will be checked regularly from this point on. Pitkin will be added through an iv, there is no reason you can't move around or walk as long as you request intermittent monitoring, traditional monitoring leaves you essentially strapped to the bed. The contractions will be stronger than with a natural birth and your uterus may actually be over stimulated. I think this covers the basics, I will be going in for my second induction on Tuesday, so good luck ladies! Oh, and yes you can have water, hard candy may also be an option, but no food.

This os my first baby and I'm 40+6. I am scheduled for induction on the 22nd abd my last appointment is on Tuesday. I am a high-anxiety type of person too and I try to relax myself by convincing myself (even though em c section is one of my top 3 worst fears of labor) that it is not the end of the world. Plus, I plan on going natural even if I have to induce. So my questions will be if I will be allowed to walk, change positions and have an upright birth (all better for allowing labor to progress), as well as if I can have the pitocin removed once contractions are regular so I can continue with more natural contractions and be more mobile (unless of course labor stalls without the pitocin, then I will go back on if necessary), if I will be allowed to drink water, if I am allowed to put off breaking my waters unless absolutely necessary (like being stuck and not progressing for a few hours), and also how long the general hospital stay is after birth if mom and baby have no complications.
