I left once contractions were stopping we from walking and we're 5 minutes apart. Our daughter was born within 2 hours of when we left. I was told the 511 rule but would have delivered in the car if I followed that advice!

If your water breaks, go to the hospital right away, otherwise its recommended to go by the 3-1-1 rule. Contractions 3 minutes apart, lasting one minute for at least one hour. But honestly, its not always regular like that or incredibly painful for all women so if you feel like it is time, go! Don't worry about false alarms, its to be expected.

My doctor told me go when my contractions were 5 mins apart. She never said anything about pain. Everyone's pain level is diffrenet. My cousin went to the hospital when she couldn't stand hers anymore and when she arrived at the hospital she was already 9cm. Lol. She even stopped to take pictures of her baby's nursery before she left the house! Lol!
Of course go right away if your water breaks too.

The doc told me they like for your contractions to be 3-5 minutes apart and they would like the contractions to be the ones where you can't talk through them. I hope this helps
