Hyperemesis Gravidarum (Sever morning sickness) and Hyperthyroidism

I have just found out that I have hyperthyroidism and have found that this can be a complication for those with Hyperemsis Gravidarum form of Morning sickness.
It just feels like abother thing going wrong and more doctors to see and more medicine to take when I don't want to take any (taking Zofran to stop the severe nausea and vomiting).. I just wish they had warned me this was possible.
apparently when you have very high HCG levels, it not only can worsen morning sickness but the HCG can also interfere with how the thyroid functions, stimulating it.
I am really tired with muscle fatigue, I'm all jittery and am loosing too much weight (20pounds so far from prepregnancy weight of 190). I thought I would be showing by 12 weeks but instead I am loosing weight!

Has anyone else with morning sickness also got this complication? What has your doctor said?

HI Ozbron,

I'm reading your post and it is almost exactly what I'm going through right now. I've got severe morning sickness and was admitted to hospital at 8 weeks for dehydration. The morning sickness persists and now I've also been diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism. I'm 11 weeks pregnant today with my second child. My first pregancy was the same except that my thyroid was absolutely fine. I've lost 6 kgs so far, from weighing 60 kgs before falling pregnant. I'm fatigued, depressed and weak and no-one seems to understand what I'm going through. Like you, it also feels to me like it is one thing after another and I have a handful of tablets to take every day.  :( Please tell me how your pregnancy planned out and if you gave birth to a healthy baby.

OzBron,
I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with this on top of the stress of a normal pregnancy! I really hope everything settles down so you can enjoy it. I personally don't know anyone who has had that problem. Try posting on the Pregnancy forum since there's a lot more people on that one. I'm sure someone can relate.
Best of luck! Keep your head up!!!!!
