I know this is late but wanted to say the period like pain is not normal when pg.  It's not RLP (Round Ligament Pain) but a sign of contractions.  RLP would be a sudden and instant pain when you stand up, sit down, make any movement at all and it stops after a minute or two.  I was sent to the hospital a couple of weeks ago for period like pain and was told I was having mild contractions.  So any time you have any type of pain that feels like your period is going to start drink lots of water and lay on your left side.  If it persists then you need to let your OB/GYN know right away.

any bit of blood I'd go to your ob and get an ultrasound. But the pains/cramps I get all the time too. I'm told it's your ligaments stretching and thing moving around to make room.
