I want to perm my hair

I am 15 weeks pregnant I want to perm because I m getting a short haircutt. I wanted to know is it safe to perm my hair in the second trimester. Should I wear a towel over my nose while getting it done?

I permed my hair with my first child. They say as long as the building is well ventilated you can get a perm.

When I went to my doctor and asked about perms they told me to wait until after my pregnancy because of the fumes . So I just braided my hair instead of leaving it out. Idk maybe it will be different.

My doctor told me it was fine to highlight my hair, and was not concerned about fumes.  I don't know if a perm would be different or not.  One thing to know is that often perms don't take evenly during pregnancy, you might get a lot of curl in the back and have it fall out really fast and give you straight hair, in the front.  Talk to your doctor to be sure about the fumes.
