38 weeks , 1mg Xanax

Okay so I am currently 38w and 4d pregnant with my first. I can not sleep for the life of me, I've already gotten my body so used to benadryl. All those home remedies like warm bath, warm tea, relaxing yadayada just ain't cuttin it. I found a 1mg xanax I had in a pill case and I know it would help me get some sleep for sure. I also know xanax isn't exactly recommended during pregnancy but I'm pretty sure one wouldn't hurt as I know some women who have taken them throughout in small doses here and there. Im worried though if I take it and happen to go into labor before I've had time to let it get out of my system. I of course don't want my baby taken away over a one time small use. Do I go for it and hope I don't have this baby in the next couple days or just don't sleep? I'm

When I went to l&d triage they gave me it for nausea. Totally ok. Especially because of how far along you are. Nothing much can really hurt you're baby now. But like all things, if you're not sure just call you're ob!! Everyone on the internet will say different things but you're ob knows best!

I agree with dianaexoh. My doctor told me to take Unisom and it's amazing! On those days where I didn't get any sleep the night before I take half a pill and wake up the next morning feeling well rested.

Don't take it. Xanax stays in your system up to four weeks just like marijuana.
If your doctor didn't prescribe it I wouldn't take it. Instead tell your doctor about your troubles. She may tell you to take a Tylenol PM or like Diana said take unison!

I'm sorry but I have to give my honest opinion. I honestly don't know much about the medication, but I have to say if the doctor doesn't prescribe it to u then I wouldn't take it. I understand how frustrating it can be as I am 38 weeks as well. I also have 3 other little ones running around and I'm constantly doing doing doing. I know how much pain ur in, and I know how tires and stressful it can be, but trust me u r almost there. Taking meds even if it's a one time thing isn't worth the risk. Just my opinion though. I'm sure a bunch of others will come on here saying different or otherwise, but I don't suggest it. Just ask yourself, isn't the baby worth the pain and stress your going through? It's like getting a grand prize at the end of a very hard stressful race or something. Good luck, sorry if it wasn't the answer ur hoping for
