Breastfeeding

Hi I had my son 7 weeks early he made a week on today and is still in the nicu but doing very well...I am breastfeeding but I'm not producing a lot of milk it's coming in very slowly everyone I pump I only get a little bit from each breast it takes me to pump quite a few times to fill up a storage tube why am I not producing enough milk yet and what can I do to produce more milk for my baby

Commit to pumping every 2-3 hours, even at night. Also, keep pumping a few minutes after the milk stops flowing. That tells your body that the baby needs more milk, so it will start produing more. This really helped me and I have a ton of milk now.
Im exclusively pumping, my baby is in NICU as well..
If that doesnt help, I know Babies R Us has special cookies to help boost milk production. You can also talk to lactation consultant. They've helped me a lot ))

Thanks everyone im still pumping don't want to give up I really want him to be best fed even though they are mixing my milk with the formula in the nicu

A friend of mine had your baby about 7 weeks early and her doctor told her that her milk was also premature; which explains why you feel like you aren't producing enough.

Baby's stomach is the size of a grape. Don't worry. This is the time for Colostrum which is super rich, but there's not a ton of it...and feelings are supposed to be very frequent... So little short meals.  Keep up the pumping but don't stress. You're just starting out.

try clam soup! saute onion,garlic & ginger then add clam and lil bit of water.
they saud it helps a lot in production of breastmilk..
