Commit to pumping every 2-3 hours, even at night. Also, keep pumping a few minutes after the milk stops flowing. That tells your body that the baby needs more milk, so it will start produing more. This really helped me and I have a ton of milk now.
Im exclusively pumping, my baby is in NICU as well..
If that doesnt help, I know Babies R Us has special cookies to help boost milk production. You can also talk to lactation consultant. They've helped me a lot ))
Thanks everyone im still pumping don't want to give up I really want him to be best fed even though they are mixing my milk with the formula in the nicu
A friend of mine had your baby about 7 weeks early and her doctor told her that her milk was also premature; which explains why you feel like you aren't producing enough.
Baby's stomach is the size of a grape. Don't worry. This is the time for Colostrum which is super rich, but there's not a ton of it...and feelings are supposed to be very frequent... So little short meals. Keep up the pumping but don't stress. You're just starting out.
try clam soup! saute onion, garlic & ginger then add clam and lil bit of water.
