When did your doctor start checking your cervix?

I'm 38weeks and have no clue if I'm dialated or anything. My doctor says she doesn't check cervix until 39 weeks. I been having so many contractions but they seem to go away and not last. When in to ER at 36 weeks bc contractions where really bad but they where not changing my cervix so got sent home. Since then still been miserable having them but have no clue if my cervix has changed bc my doc wont check it. I'm so tired and uncomfortable and I been thinking if taking the castor oil with OJ but only have read it works if you are already dialated.Any suggestions? This is my 2 pregnancy

I started getting checked at 36 weeks, whwn i got checked I was 1cm. At 37 weeks I was the same so hopefully when i go in thursday for my 38 week check up I'll have dialated a bit. Alot of doctors run their practice differently. I wanted to get my membranes sweeped last week but my doctor said he wont do it till I'm 39 weeks. So hang in there your almost there, dont worry alot of us on here totally understand how you feel I'm beyond over being pregnant my belly is so big and heavy. I had my first experience yesterday at the mall with a girl walking by me and said to her friend "dang shes huge". At that point I was over this.LOL

My doctor started checking me at 36 weeks I was 1.5 almost 2 cm and pretty thick and at 37 weeks I was almost 3 cm and 80% thinned I go tomorrow for my 38 week check up.
