Introducing Koby John Firth!
I finally had my baby boy!
Koby John Firth was born Monday the 28th October at 3.07 am.
I woke up Monday morning to get ready to go to the hospital for my induction as soon as I got out of bed my waters broke then the contractions started. They were more uncomfortable than painful but gradually got worse and by the time we got to the hospital they were about 10 minutes apart.
Turns out they weren't inducing me that day anyway but this little man wanted out so I was admitted. The contractions were coming but they were irregular and not making me dilate (I was at 3 cms at around 2 pm.) The reason I wasn't dilating was because he was occiput posterior, in an awkward position and because his head was so firmly engaged he was having trouble moving it into the position to dilate my cervix.
Anyhow, was in labour all day, no progress, baby's heart rate was spiking so started a drip of syncotocin at around 10.30 pm. Contractions started coming harder and by now I was simply exhausted so I got an epidural (around 11.15 pm). Got examined at around 12.30 am, was dilated to about a 6 and baby's head was very low. They still said it would be a good few hours before much happened so I messaged my mum and let her know (she was waiting at home.) Got my epi topped up. Then at about 2.00 am my mum walked in (she said she had a feeling something was about to happen.) My epi was quickly wearing off and I was feeling more and more pressure down there, said 5 minutes later that I had to push, so it was about 2.30 am when I started pushing, pushed for 37 minutes and Koby John Firth made his appearance, weighing in at 9 pound 2 ounces and measuring 54 centimeters (big boy!). His apgars were 8 and 9. He is doing very well, a very content, laid back little boy and I am SO in love. I only (suprisingly) had one small 1 degree tear and a few grazes so I am still a bit sore and just looking forward to feeling myself again. Plus my milk has just started coming in and it is agony but I guess I am just going to have to persevere. Its all so worth it when I look at my little bub! I have posted pics so feel free to have a look. I hope everyone is doing well x
