Labour Questions

I've been very interested in a water birth....just wondering though, at what time does the placenta deliver? Is it also done in the water afterward or what? Anyone experience a water birth? I'm not the type that can handle pain well but I'm determined to really do this naturally and I think water would help!

LOL yeah I had really bad back labor and there was no getting around that! My little man was facing the wrong way and he weight over 8 pounds. You have plenty of time to decide how you wanna do it =) and there is always medication as long as you are at the hospital =)

Oh Hospital for sure!! LOL I want to try to start meditation and yoga and learn ways to ease labour mentally. You know how some women just put themselves in a different place at the time...I wanna learn to do that!!

I haven't done a water birth, but have read plenty about them. The placenta is delivered after the baby and it isn't done in water due to bleeding. It is usually detaches itself after the baby (5-10 minutes).  Oh girl, i had my first little boy naturally (my water broke at home) and I was in hard labor for 14 hours with 3.5 hours of pushing. It was absolutely terrible. I handle pain very well but there is nothing that can prepare you for childbirth. I had an epideral with my youngest son and it was the best decision ever! He didn't have any problems afterwords either because they took it out before I started pushing. It was like a wonderful dream! I did hear that water births help ease the pain a bit but would you be doing this in a hospital setting or at home?
