I'm also getting induced Wednesday at 41+2 days. In Australia they try a stretch and sweep 2-3 times. If that doesn't work then they try a gel to soften cervix, if still nothing then they break your waters and if still nothing then iv drip to bring on contractions. Before they start anything they should give you info on pros and cons of any procedure. If not ask! You shouldn't feel terrified or you're body will not go into natural labour. Read up as much as you can and ask your midwife lots of questions. Good luck!
Being induced at that point is a smart choice. My dr and I dicussed options at my last appt and she said that health reasons would be why they induce you and at that late in the pregnancy they are worried about your placenta getting "tired" and being unable to properly care for the baby, as well as other health risks. You've waited this long to have your baby so my thinking is to get them here as safetly as possible by any means necessary. My dr understand that my birthplan is to go into labor on my own, but I also made it very clear that the ONLY thing I truly care about is having my son here happy and healthy by any means possible!
I was 1 cm when I went to get induced and I had no issues. Don't worry, your baby will be fine. :)
The induction mud cation works different in everyone. But I will earn you that with the medicine Comes stronger more painful contractions than just going into labor yourself because the medicine is forcing your body to do something it's just not ready for yet. I was induced with my first and will be tomorrow as well with my second. Just try to breathe through the contractions because holding your breath makes it more intense and harder to get through because you're resisting it. I know easier said than done but you'll do great.
Im also 1 cm and that just recently happened. Ill be induced wednesday at 41 weeks 1 day. I have no idea what to expect
