Induction!

I'm getting induced on Wednesday! I'm going to be 41 weeks and I'm extremely nervous even if I know the outcome will be worth it. I don't know how to calm those nerves! I'm mainly scared of the pain and the fact that the chance of a c-section doubles D:

Not to frighten you, but I hope your induction goes a lot better than mine! They started me on Cervadil and after 10 hours of back labor, I had only dilated 1 cm and 50% effaced. My nurse and midwife said that my pain equivalent was reading around what it should normally feel like at 6-7 cm, so my fiance and I decided to go home and let me go into labor on my own as opposed to allowing her to break my water and start the pitocin: they said it would have tripled the amount of pain that I was in and tripled my chances of a c-section than if I'd labor at home where I was more comfortable.

I had an emergency c-section and it was by far the easiest part of my whole labour experience! My boy was born Oct 10th and I'm no longer taking painkillers and recovering nicely. I'd say it's not something to worry about. Obviously it's not ideal but sometimes it's the option for healthy baby and healthy mamma! Good luck! Hope all goes well and you meet your baby soon x

I was induced at 38+1. All in all...it wasn't THAT bad. Yes...pain is involved.. But we all are pretty aware of that when we made the decision to be moms. Now, for me, I received pitocin with progressive steps. She started administering it at 8cc (i believe and after 13 hours of labor I had gone as high as 14cc.) I began at approximately at 9:30a on 10/5/15 and I deliverd two healthy twins baby A @ 0103 hrs & baby B @ 0113 hrs. I took the labor contractions for somewhere around 6 hrs. The pain -O- meter aka the contraction monitor was giving me readings at about 67-71. That was the best I felt I could do..although I would have taken the entire labor without the epidural had I dialated any. By the 6th hour of labor I had only dialated 3cm. When I arrived I was 1cm zero effacement and was still long. The epi procedure was not the greatest for me...although I muat admit, when I made it through the pain/discomfort of the epi procedure it was like a slice of heaven!  Not to long after they cranked my pitocin gradually every hour. My doctor checked me every two hours. She broke my water and from there...I quickly entered and left my second stage of labor. At around midnight I began feeling a bulging pressure. I was 9cm dialated. She said , " well lets wait another hour maybe you will be 10 cm. By then I was exhaused and ready to go. I had another contraction , she checked me, I was 10 cm. Mlments later they were rolling me to OR. By 0145 hrs, I was headed to my room for recovery and to really meet my twins. Good luck mama. You will do well!!!

I was induced and was able to walk every other hour as long as she monitored fine. Unlucky for me she didn't handle the contractions well and after 12 hours we ended up getting a c section. I got the epidural after the Dr broke my water bc the back labor was the worst. I was able to relax with the epidural and rest. I was okay with the c section bc the Dr said it was necessary and it was. Just be prepared for all options of how it can end. You have to trust your Dr and I did mine. In the end you will have your baby in your arms and that's what matters.

I was also induced and the epidural was a god send... Unfortunately, with being induced, they wouldn't let me walk around since the monitors were attached to the wall, but I could stand and move as far as my cords would allow.  I will say... when the contractions got bad, all I wanted to do was curl into a ball and clutch the bed railings... Moving around was the last thing I wanted to do!  Kudos to those mom's who could!

From start to finish, my labor was 38hrs although a good chunk of the beginning parts were pretty mild and uneventful.  No csection or other assist though!  Good luck!  You'll do great!

I was induced as well, definitely listen to the above response too. I was the same way, didn't want an epidural, but I ended up getting one because the pain was much more intense that I thought, but not unbearable. Also, the ball is amazing, it really helps you be comfortable. Try to wait as long as possible to get an epidural though so you can walk around and be comfortable. Although you don't feel your legs, so  you are pretty comfortable after that.

I was induced because my water broke. My advice listen to ur body. If u cant handle it ask for the epidural,i did even tho i was dead set against it. Also stay upright as long as u can. The ball was my choice and standing in the early stages.
