If you are having a normal pregnancy 2 ultrasounds are usually it. If baby growth is a concern 32w to 34w is usually the last.

I've only had two ultrasounds. One at 8 weeks then at 19 weeks, anatomy scan and my doctor said I will have one more at 36 weeks to check position of my little man. So 3 in all. I was also surprised at how little we learn from our OBs. I wish they would work more at providing more information especially for ftm. Most things I learned on my own.

My midwife told me that I'll only get two because it's medically unnecessary for more as I'm having a normal pregnancy and little man is on target. We're paying out of pocket for a 3D/4D ultrasound here near the end of the month to see him one last time before he's here. :/

Almost done with week 30, they had me go in to check the heartbeat, make sure I was still on track with everything etc. I have another ultrasound at 32 weeks to check my girls growth since I haven't had an ultrasound since 22 weeks. Some drs only do 1 ultrasound too, that's how it was for my sister. But you don't get check at all. I don't think that starts until you go every week.

I was surprised to discover that the anatomy scan would be the last intil the end, which was sad because my husband didn't come after my SIL gave us the impression the scan might take forever. I'm 30 weeks and last time only had the doppler. My understanding is that the long term effects of frequent ultrasounds on the baby aren't well known so they try to limit them to what's medically necessary. I'd love to see my guy again but not getting them means that everything is going well and you're not adding additional risk, so we just have to hang in there, I guess!

Checked what? Your cervix? They don't need to check you at all but will near the end of your pregnancy just to give you and themselves a better idea on when baby will be arriving. I just had an appointment and for this final trimester I will see her every 2wks to hear the heart and measure the bump and check vitals, the basics. Almost unnecessary as I've had no issues anywhere and have my own doppler. I too have only had two ultrasounds. One at the very beginning and the anatomy scan. I had one in between only cause she wasn't sure she could use the doppler to hear the heart but that lasted 1 minute if that. We are paying out of pocket to have a 3d/4d ultrasound next week (cheap in my area, expensive in others) maybe look into that of you wanna see baby again before it arrives. I'm surprised at how little obs do regarding pregnancy. Everything I know I learned myself. I expected so much more information and care
