Oh and he went to preschool 1 day a week than my partner would watch him friday Saturday Sunday that's his days off so my partnerdoes 4 10 hhour shifts then I do 4 9 hour shifts and bubs doesn't miss out on time with us only one day for school which is good anyway for him to interact with other children :)

The younger the child the more expensive daycare is. Also talk with your human resources and see what kind of services your work offers for child care, mine helps with a certain amount but I can't remember how much cause I haven't even decided if I'm going back to work right away. I get 6-8 weeks of 50% my pay on the maximum hours I make, depending on the way I have him and I get a total of 16 weeks and I can also use my vacation hours I've saved. I would ask your HR at work and see what they can help with.

My granny suffered from a stroke a couple of years ago and is still recovering. She wants to be the sitter but we still have to keep our options open just in case she isn't ready by the time our little one comes.  My husband works overnight but he is a truck driver so I feel it is imperative that he gets adequate rest during the day. Child care is between $200-325/ week where I live and it makes me nervous because it is so expensive!

I will be going back to work when my baby is 4 months old (that's the longest I can take with them still holding my position). When I got back I will be working part time and having baby in daycare part time.

4 - 6 wks is defo not long enough! I realise how lucky we are here..think we are gettin the option to share our time off with partners which would be good cos they only get 2-3 wks

They really should offer paid leave for at least a year. Our babies are so precious and develop so much better in first year with mommy.

Oh and those who love in Ireland, how awesome is that?! 9 months is awesome. Here in the good ole USA we get like 4-6 weeks maternity paid depending on the type of delivery. So sad

We are currently looking at daycares because of the long waiting lists but i think we will use a home daycare as long as we find someone we like and trust. I will probably go back to work at 8 weeks. Its going to be a hard decision to make leaving my infant and first child with a stranger. Luckily both of our jobs are flexible so i will be able to call or stop by to check in on them if needed.

I stayed home for 9 weeks. Then my first born had to go to daycare. Thankfully I stay home now so I'll be home with #2.. it was hard! I would have preferred someone keep her that I knew but it just wasn't an option

Same here.. I stayed home for 9 months with my son and a year with my daughter. With the same pay as previously mentioned above..  After that my son was in nursery full time for a year before I had NY daughter. It was then I cut his days down and when she was a yr old they both went to nursery for three days a week while my husband changed his work hours so that he could stay home the other two days.
