Done being nice...

I'm 37 weeks 3 days and my little one will possibly be coming this weekend. I have made it clear that I don't want an entourage at the hospital and no visitors for a while once we're home. However some pushy family members of my hubby and one of my friends don't seem to think that applies to them. This is not new to me it's baby #5 so I know how exhausting giving birth can be,so I want quiet time to allow my kids to bond with their new sister. Also there has been a crazy case of flu and some stomach bug going around here as well so I definitely don't want to expose myself or my LO to that. My hubby thinks that I'm being mean (probably because he's scared to speak up to them), however this is the same routine we've always done after one of our kids was born so why should I change that just because his family lives here now? Ok vent over.

That's what scares me my now 12 year old had RSV and spent 2 weeks in the hospital when he was only 2 weeks old. So after that, we've done our best to keep visitors away from the new babies. His aunt even insists that since I got the flu shot it will be okay for people to visit. But even the CDC has said there are strains of flu going around that the shot may not protect from. But just because I got it doesn't 100% protect my baby. I guess I'll just have to be down right rude to get them to understand because being nice isn't working.

How long a period of time are you talking about?   Days?

Or longer than that?

You are totally right. Just keep telling them it's not to be mean, but you need your rest & don't want to get the flu. That happened with me when I had my first & no one listened to me & she ended up in the hospital at 9 days old. She's fine, that was 5 yrs ago but still, just do whatever makes you comfortable. :)
