No judgement please

I'm 37 weeks and I've smoked pot off and on through out my pregnancy. I have always had trouble eating. So to eat I would smoke. Needless to say before I got pregnant I weighed 97 pounds and I'm 24. But since I started smoking to help me eat I've gained over 30 pounds and my baby is perfectly fine. No health issues and perfect weight gain. My question is, since I've smoked will he test positive? Its been three days and I'm not due till October 27th. If he does test positive what will happen?

I have stopped smoking, going on day 5. I don't think they'll take him away to be honest. If anything I think I'll be drug tested for a period of time which I have no problem with cause I don't plan on smoking again even after he's born. I only did this to help me eat and gain the proper weight, which I have. Thanks everyone for your advice, it is taken to heart.

I'd say to talk to ur doctor. If he hasn't really said anything,  he's probably cool. Tell him ur circumstances & ensure him that it's not a problem if that arises. But I would stop. Better to be safe than sorry. Child Services is a pain, & very expensive to deal with.

It usually can take 45 - 60 days to get out of the system of a daily smoker, depending on your bmi. I would quit now and drink a ton of water to try and wash as much of it out as possible. No point in messing with the goverment, they can ruin your life at the drop of a hat.

I know weed can stay in your system for at least a month so I'm not sure what that means for your baby. And yes the only scary thing is I know a couple states have already made a law saying if the baby tests positive for drugs, the baby is taken away.. Not sure if with current laws also about marijuana if that is included.. Good luck with everything!

In some states they will take baby away. I smoked a little pot here and there with my first to help with nausau but i quit 2 months before my due date.. good thing too bc they drug tested me and baby for everything when he was born. I would quit now as it does take a while to stop showing up in your system.

If you are worried about any kind of consequences than stop smoking until after birth or givebit a try that way it may (or may not) have travelled out of your system and babies if there's any in there. Goodluck.

Thanks and me too. Oh I know, I've seen many meth heads out here doing anything to get a fix. There's more of a meth problem than anything out here which I think is why my doctor hadn't said anything. Thank you again for your advice.

Honestly talk to him about it but I'm surprised they haven't mentioned it more. They may not care since that's the only things they are finding. That's just what I would do I think you'll be fine and hope they don't make a big deal out of it when there are mothers doing much worse nasty drugs while pregnant.

I'm pretty sure my doctor knows we just don't talk about it. We did in the beginning but nothing since then. I live in Arizona, I've looked up trying to figure out what will happen but I can't find anything. I know a few people who did it for the same reason I have and nothing happened but that was 3 years ago.

The US is one of the only countries that doesn't actually prescribe pot during pregnancy. It literally relieves almost all symptoms.

You should definitely not smoke anymore at this point. Depending on what state you live in they could make a big deal about it and just have a case worker come to your house and drug test you a few times. I was born in the 90s and my mom smoked allll throughout her pregnancy and they didn't care back then. Now in some states they want any reason to try to start a case on a mother. I smoked through most of mine until I got to the end of my second trimester because the state I live in they CAN take your child away as sad as it is. Just talk to your doctor about it and let him know you don't do drugs and you are not an addict and why you smoked.
