Sudafed during Pregnancy, HELP!

I have been told that plain Sudafed (Phenylephrine) is safe to take during pregnancy, but I have been trying to research online different medications that are safe to take during pregnancy and it says that Sudafed shouldn't be taken, or should not be taken until the last 3 months of pregnancy. I have taken in 3 times so far during the last 2 weeks to try to calm my nasal congestion, but now I am afraid that I am just doing damage to the baby. I am MISERABLE with my allergies and have tried not to depend on medications, I have tried teas, humidifiers, vapo rub, warm showers, steamed showers, EVERYTHING and nothing will make these allergies calm down or go away. Help, is this medication safe to take? What alternatives are there besides medication that I have not tried? I am desperate, help.

well I was told that it was safe to take by a midwife.... I have only taken it twice but it doesn't seem to help at all.

Just wanted to add I'm not a pharmacist but I have worked in pharmacy for about 8 years, and the previous comment is something I know from work.

Phenylephrine is not safe. Its best to talk to your doctor about what is safe to take and you might also be able to get something prescribed that you wouldn't be able to buy over the counter.
