breastfeeding preparation

Hi Im 21 weeks with my first baby. And I want to breastfeed so bad like exclusively no formula or bottles, but some ladies have told me that it hurts so much, that Im going to bleed basically that os horrible. That even if the baby latches good, im still going to bleed. They told me that to prepare my boobs I should be scrubbing my nipple s in the shower right now so it doesn't hurt so much, but my doctor said that my hormones prepare my boobs so I dont have to do that. And what about the nipple creams? Should I start using that now? Or is just when the baby comes? How can I use those creams if my baby is going to be in my boob all the time? I dont want him to be tasting and eating those creams. Sorry for the long post. Thank u

I breastfed my daughter for a year. You don't need to prepare your nipples. I never bled. It's uncomfortable at first. The better your baby latches the less pain/issues you should have. Yes to creams. They help a ton.

Don't let them scare you, I did for 2 years almost and she never once got sick, ear infection or any of that. It's hard at first just be patient.

You don't have to prepare your you nipples. I have breast fed both of my babies I did have to pump to keep my supply up. It's kinds uncomfortable at first but only for alittle while as long as baby is latching on right. My nipples never bled but one did get a bit dry. I just put breast milk on it and coconut oil that way I didn't have to worry about the baby eatting the other creams. I recommend seeing the lactation consultant At the hospital after baby is born. I feel like I know what I'm doing now after 2 babbies but I will still see one with this baby. Don't let everyone freak you out. It is alot of work but worth it!!

Wat a load of rubbish. U dont need to scrub ur nipples.  Yeah it hurts at first... quite toe curling at first in my case but it doesnt last long u just have to push past it. The creams really helped me.   Lansinol in particular,  along with my own milk rubbed on my nippkes and letting alot of air get to them after feeding.  Dont let anyone scare you.

My daughter was born on the 2nd and I haven't had any issues with pain, chapping, bleeding, anything. It was a little uncomfortable at first but not bad. I have nipple cream but haven't  used it. You can talk to a lactation consultant at the hospital and they will help you get a good latch. You can also go on facebook to the leaky b@@b or your local la leche league for help. As far as pumps,  get onr with good soft cups. Many people use Medela but i didn't like the one i had at the hospital. I got an avent double electric that was notmally 199 on clearance at target for 99 and it came with extra bottles, a case, etc. And has been great so far. Make sure you get a closed system.so the milk doesn't go into the tubing or anything so cleaning and sterilizing in easier :-) good luck
