Over the counter stool softners and a bunch of water. The stool softners are safe for the baby.

My midwife suggested a daily dose of magnesium pills to compliment my prenatal vitamins, and take them with lots of water. I was never constipated again.

Milk of Magnesium works great!!! Take that and drink some apple juice and I guarantee you'll go. I just had the same problem and I'm 38 weeks. Its a horrible and very uncomfortable feeling. You'll feel so much better afterwards.

I was hoping someone was going to post about this.  I am 21 weeks and I'm badly constipated as well. I have been drinking a lot of water. Eating fruit and veg. I started eating prunes last night. It's painful when I do want to go. I am worried that all the pushing is going to harm the baby :( I have heard a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar will help, anyone know of this is ok?

Fiber bars!! Water, and lots of exercise! This all helped me alot! And raw coconut oil thinly spread on a peanut butter sandwich helped amazingly but if you don't like coconut (i dont) its kind of hard to make yourself dig it. But one a day saved my life
