full birthing stories/experiences and what to expect.

Hi, I'd like to hear (well read) about what to expect from mothers who've already had children. I'm just curious as to what to expect from being induced (if needed) , the doctors , pain, natural birth and etc.

I was due on May 15 and ended up being induced May 26.. I was induced at 3am and they started the pitocin around 4am.. my contractions didn't start getting really bad till around 2pm so I decided to gt my epidural.. thank god for an epidural because I was able to get some rest.. around 7pm I started feeling really bad pressure ,the nurse came in an checked me and sure enough I was ready to push. The doctor came and I started to push.. I pushed for an hour an a half.. I was so exhausted an they ended up having to give me an episotomy.. as soon as they cut me I did one more push and she was out ! I was in pretty bad pain for about a week due to the episotomy but once you see your precious baby nothing matters! You finally understand what true unconditional love really is ! Good luck !

I had my firstborn in August 2013, my labor started at 9 am on my due date, it was just like period cramps at first so I didn't really realize what was going on until they got stronger. My husband and I decided to go for a walk while we waited things out because we knew it was going to be a while yet. Around 9 that night the contractions were strong enough to stop me in my tracks. So I got on all fours in the bed and attempted to rest, at this point my contractions were about 15-20 minutes apart. I fell attempted sleep a couple times but the contractions woke me up. At 4 am I had enough or being at home so I called my mom to take us to the hospital. We got there just after 5. I was only 2 cm dilated so they wouldn't admit me. They told me to go for a walk through the hospital and come back in an hour to get checked again.  We walked a loop around the hospital, stopping to breathe for each contraction (that was the funny part, so many people kept asking if I needed them to call someone and my mom was like 'oh no, she's just in labor, she's fine' and we decided to walk around the outside of the hospital. By the time we made it halfway around I had to sit on every bench and catch my breath. I couldn't make it back up to the maternity ward. My mom had to leave me outside while she got a wheelchair to take me back up (at this point it was an hour and a half that we were walking around) when we got back I was dilated to 3 and a bit so they admitted me and started my IV (I was group b positive so needed antibiotics) My mom then called my husband to come to the hospital (I chose to leave him at home until I was admitted- one of us needed to be well rested!) When they asked if I wanted an epidural I was in labor already for 26 hours so I said h*ll yes! I was completely grumpy at this point. Tired and hungry and stressed out. Baby's heart rate was dropping. He kept kicking the belly monitors off and the doctor was worried about him, so they broke my water and started pitocin to try and speed things up. The epidural was a God send. I was finally able to smile and laugh and play cards. But then I started feeling pains in my hips. The nurses didn't believe me. They thought I was imagining things. I went from 0-4 naturally, and then 4-7 with epidural. And then I was screaming in pain. The epidural shifted and was no longer working properly so my lower legs were numb but my stomach and hips weren't.  The anesthesiologist was in surgery and couldn't fix it for three hours. That was a nightmare. I was in so much pain that I passed out. When I woke I had an oxygen mask on and four nurses surrounding my bed.  Finally the anesthesiologist came back. I asked him to knock me out and wake me up when it was over but he thought I was joking and laughed (b*st*rd) he fixed the epidural and all was right in the world again. I started pushing at 11 pm. Baby boy was born at 11:40 pm kicking and screaming and as healthy as horse.  I got 14 stitches inside and out (and tmi) tore all the way up to my clitoris and had to get that stitched up too. I was the only one in labor that night, so I had the added benefit of all the nurses and doctors to guide me through it all. I loved my hospital stay, we stayed for 3 days because he was borderline jaundiced and they wanted to make sure his bilirubin levels would go the right way before they released us.

All in all my labor was 38 hours. It was crazy, intense, and scary all at the same time. This go round I'm hoping to try and stay at home longer (which won't be possible if I test + for group b but we'll see) I'd like to have the epidural again, but I won't make the mistake of adjusting the bed to try and rest (I think that's what made the epidural move) and I'd like a more relaxed atmosphere while I push (dimmer lights, less people in the room, things like that)

Cr*p,  this is probably so long. I didn't think I remembered as much I did!

My birth stories are on my journal entries. My hospital birth was with my first and my homebirth was with my second.

I was due March 13th got induced the 10th due to growth restriction . she was growing but my stomach wasn't . got induced with pitocin @7:30a was 4cm dilated already (: they stripped my membranes around 8:00a . water broke around 12:30p  Started to have real bad contractions in my back got the epidural around 1p-2p (can't remember was in so much pain) but after I got the epidural I felt literally nothing but pressure down there . I was having big contractions and didnt even know . my baby started crowning and with the epidural it feels like you have to poop so I told my doc that I had to poop and he said that's the baby head was a full 10cm @5:00p . waited on the baby dad to come back to the room (went to smoke a cigarette) lol at 5:30p I started pushing & at 5:40pm she was born. The epidural helped a lot with me.  Everyone is different but I literally felt no pain just a lot of pressure like I had to poop.  And I didn't get stitches or ripped or anything and this is my first baby . I wish you luck
