government assistants

I'm 21 & married, pregnant with my first child. Me & my husband don't have the best jobs, but we make it thru. Now with this big change in our life we might need a little help. So does anyone know if NJ government assistants will help me if I'm married.? Or does anyone know of any programs.?

Not to sound negative, but you definitely wanna see what you qualify for. My SO and I don't have the greatest jobs either, but we know that we'll need the help once the baby gets here. Unfortunately with our combined incomes though, we don't qualify for WIC, Medicaid, or anything like that. :/ That's in PA though so not sure what NJ's rules are.

Go to your local board of social services and they will give you better guidance for what you qualify for.

I'm not sure specifically about New Jersey. But I live in MD...and as far as I know all assistance programs are based on income. So because you are married it would be on your combined incomes. While your pregnant you should def be on Medicaid (it's the only health insurance I have currently and it covers just about everything), also WIC is a great program as well, while your pregnant and sometimes all the way up to the child being 5years old. And once the baby is born the baby should be able to go on a government childrens medical program and they generally cover all routine health procedures for you child (that's what my 2year old daughter has been on since she was born).
