Yes I agree with Brenda.. I'm sure they didn't do it to put the child in any danger... Yes I understand u want your son to experience his first gun opportunitie with his dad but it's not even something to get upset about..either you want it for your baby or not. Your the parent. If you don't want it Give it back to them and just tell them Thankyou anyways.. it was a thoughtful gift but in time your son will be able to own one of thoose.... Tell them the truth.. no hard feelings it's just the way things happen. :) good luck

A gift is a gift and I'm sure they did it with no bad intentions...to them that's probably something they like and cherish so they want to give what they love and cherish...."guns"... I think you should not take it as being rude at all but I do believe it's waaaaaay too early for a gun lol....if you or your fiance don't use it...then sell it...or tell them "thank you for the thoughtful gift, it's really nice of you guys but the baby won't need this for a while and we won't be using it"

Definitely a very weird gift for a baby.  I don't get what they were thinking any way you cut it.  Oh well.  Get rid of it. problem solved.   It's just a pellet gun.  good luck

Oh and only when they child is old enough to understand and respect how a gun works only then may he or she use it under adult supervision and it is not a toy to be played with...

Because they did not respect use enough to ask us how we felt and I honestly believe that is the dads/ father's place no matter what kind of gun it is I have guns but they are all under lock and key in a safe I know it's crazy double up lock but I know it's safe I feel as if they crossed the line....

yeah.  I'd say before a baby is born is a little early for a gun present.  LOL

I just re read your post.   Are you upset because they bought your son his first gun instead of dad or because it is a strange gift to give a baby?

I agree!!! I feel it was way to early and plus it is my fiancé that should have been the one to be the first...

^^FYI I'm not against guns.. I have one my husband has some but they are kept in a locked gun case. Up in the top of the closet. We have taught my oldest (7 yo) guns are NOT toys, & he is not aloud to touch them, people playing w guns can kill, ( maybe dramatic but true) etc. I think it important to know how to use one (when old enough perhaps 15-depending on maturity).

sell it on craigs list.  Tell his parents you aren't into guns and thank you for respecting you.  Tell him that you also don't believe in guns and that you wouldn't buy that for him if he was 12 let alone a baby.  Yeesh.  good luck

Tell them to take return it. Say thanks but no thank you. You need to set boundaries with people regarding your child right away or it can get out of control. What will he get for his 1st bday. You don't want it, need it... The $$ for the pellet gun could go to more useful things, diapers, clothes, diaper cream etc. far more useful than having something sit for 12 yrs. or what if when the baby is a toddler finds it.. It's not a "real gun" but can still do serious damage, & case a lot of trama to a small child.
