induce labour

Hi ftm here, quick question. I'm due this Sat n I'm not seeing any signs of labour. My doc said my cervix is beginning to soften and shorten, which is good. But she also said if nothing by Sat they will have to induce Monday. Is it normal for first time mom to be induced.

I love being induced. .. to each their own.  Your body. You make the call for what is right for you!

It depends on what you want, for me I get nervous having the baby in there longer than forty weeks because of the risk of meconium aspiration. The contractions are very strong I have been induced three of of my four times . haven't had any other complications but it is up to you. Being induced worked for me

Let me tell you I did the same thing with my last pregnancy because I just wanted the baby to be here sooner.hun I regret getting induced the pains of labor hit me harder I will NEVER get induced again. They couldn't give me the epidural because it was too late. That's just my experience but be forwarned

Full term pregnancy is considered anywhere from 37-42 weeks. Your doctor should not be so quick to induce you unless there was an emergency.
I would definitely give it more time and tell your doctor that you aren't ready yet.
Your body knows what to do and the baby will come when he/she is ready.

Babybrown, just because you can be induced doesn't mean you should be. If there is no medical reason for it them your just putting mom and baby under extra stress. Induction can lead to a variety of interventions and even damage tissue because of how strong the contractions get.

#1 YOU are in charge here...you CAN tell your doctor that you do NOT want to be induced as long as the baby is not in distress
#2 if you can find a health food store go get red raspberry leaf tea. Make sure it is not red raspberry, but red raspberry LEAF tea, and drink 2 cups a day. That's what my midwife did with my first. Good luck!

Why are they in dicing so soon after your due date? Won't that only make you 40w 2d? Your due date could easily be off by 3-4 days and you would not be late. I've never heard of being in diced so early for no reason, most doctors will let you go a week or 2 over your due date.
