pain meds?

Im a ftm and wondering about other pain meds during labor. Im so scared to get an epidural cause i hate being numb. Im in Canada so the drugs they give us here might be different in other countries. But suggestions would be awesome :)

Last I knew. Gas was not offered in the US. I know it isn't where I'm from. There's a number of options other than an epidural.  Sterile water injections, spinals, stadol and other IV drugs, as well as things like hypno birth and warm baths.    I'd talk to your DR about what's offered where you are and look at all your options.

I've also heard that having that tube to bite down on helps a lot. The whole concept just sounds really cool to me. Can't wait to talk to my doctor about it bc so far I've only researched it online and talked to women on here about it.

I've been looking into gas and air, another woman on here told me about it. The u give you a tube that you bite down on when you're having a contraction and it releases a type of gas that you breathe in that makes you a little lightheaded or sort of "high" So to speak, but it's suppose to distract you from the pain and help relieve. I don't remember the technical term for it and I haven't used it myself. But I'm definitely intrigued bc the women I've talked To that have used it absolutely swear by it.
