skin to skin

How would skin to skin work if you were having a c section? I want to be able to hold my babies immediately, not have to wait for the Dr to stitch me up and take all the iv out

this is also my fear with twins...plus tandem breastfeeding with an incision. good news is, the baby over my cervix has always been head down so I should have no problems with a vaginal delivery with him. my little girl flip flops every time I'm at the doctor's office. well just have to see when I'm in labor...

^^^^^ these stories are exactly what I'm afraid of, I guess it would make me feel a little better if dad was able to hold them immediately but I'd still rather it be me ya know lol

When I had my son, they lifted him out, daddy cut the cord and then he was placed straight onto my chest for as long as possible before he had to go to nicu and I had to go to recovery. I didn't even notice they were stitching me up while I was having my cuddle.

With all 3 of mine I had c-sections and I was  only able to do cheek.to cheek for a few mins then I had to wait a couple of hours to see them which I hated but had no choice.

If you cant do it have the daddy or some one else do it. Become a fan of the leaky b@@b on facebook, this topic came up before on there and they posted an article with your rights and what you can do etc :-)

I had a c-section with my first baby...and I have no choice but to get another one with this baby due to the fact that I got a vertical incision instead of a horizontal incision. I also had extra surgery afterwards to remove a 20 cm cyst from my right ovary. I really don't know how long it took after my baby girl was born for me to be able to hold her, but I did get to hold her hand and touch her face after they cleaned and weighed her. You can't really move all that much with everything hooked up to you. It doesn't seem like it was that long of a process but with all the medicine I couldn't tell you if it really was or not. I just know I didn't physically get to hold her until I was in my room after the entire process and after the medicine wore off some.

I'm having one done Friday and it worries me as well, but unfortunately there's not much I can do about it. I was told you get immediate skin to skin very briefly, then I'd go into recovery for one to two hours without baby. My husband will get to spend time and shnuggle him for those couple hours until I'm taken out of recovery and up to our maternity suite!

I know they let you see them and hold them up to your face for a minute or so but the thought of going 30mins to an hour before holding my boys is really bothering me. I don't even know if I'm having a c section I pray I dont, I'm 34 weeks and as of right now there's no plan to have one but I want to know just in case I do end up stuck with one
