taking baby out

Ok do me n my hubby have been going at it lately about taking our daughter out....he feels that she shouldnt be going out for about a month if not longer and he means everywhere.....me on the other hand I feel that as long as nobody is all in her face and she isn't being passed around or anything I don't see the problem with it.....I am not gonna sit in the house all day when it's beautiful outside so we go to different places....she is now 3 weeks and she is doing fine.....hasn't gotten sick once!!!! It is driving me crazy the arguments we get into over this.....so what is every one else's opinions please I would like to know how other moms feel about this!!!! Thanks in advance

Yea I really appreciate the feed back I agree with everyone and that everybody has different views about it!!!! I personally feel that if u completely disinfect everything all the time, keep them in the house and have a bottle of Lysol attached to your hip at all times your child is GOING to get sick!!!!! I'm just glad that people agree with me and that I'm not crazy or doing something wrong!!!!!!

I think.its personal.preference. Qhen my son was born he had really bad jaundice and everyday for the first 2 weeks we had to go to hospital and then the doctors office. We had to take him out and it didnt scare me to take him into public. He never got sick until he was 1 and has only beem sick a few times since. It all depends on their immunity systems. Some kids are more succeptible to sickness then others. I personally couldnt just sit in the house all day i had to get out and do things.

Wow I had my baby out like within a week only cause I myself wasn't doing well after labor. We're always out doing stuff (walks at the park, grocery shopping, play dates with other babies, etc) cause its so boring sitting at home and she hasn't been sick once and she's 8 weeks now!! I think you're all being a little paranoid lol

@ mandatace I am doing the same thing and believe that I am building her immunity by taking her out and breastfeed her!!!! Part of it is his mother who is in his ear all the time about anything so of course he's going to say what she says goes but she had him 26 years ago.....like come on things have changed drastically since then and they both need to realize that.....you can only get sick if you come into contact with germs and I don't think she is going too far strapped into her car seat and stroller!!!!!! Thanks I appreciate the support!!!

I had my son out a week after he was born. I had to! There was no one else to do the shopping or go and pay the bills.
I breast fed my son, and am a firm believer in building an immune system. A friend who's daughter is a month older than my son, didn't take her anywhere, disinfected everything, was very very paranoid if all and any germs. Her daughter, to this very day, 6 years later, still gets sick all the time. Where as my son has been sick maybe 3-5 times he usually gets one cold in winter and that's about it.
If your comfortable with taking bub out then go for it I say!

I probably will take her out but only for like 20 minutes maybe to run to the store of something. I wanna keep her inside as much as possible before she gets her shots

Well the places I take her nobody is up in her face, touching her, or any of that....I take her to the grocery store when I need something or to Wal-Mart or target and places like that.....I mean she is more susceptible to getting sick by going to the drs than any of the places I bring her!!!

Yea see that's the thing.....he just won't compromise and feels that I don't take his feelings or what he says at all into consideration.....and frankly if I feel that taking her to a certain place will not harm her I do it and then I hear the wrath from him and his family....they are under the impression that you don't take newborns out at all.....my thing is if you keep them sheltered they won't build up the immunity they need so they don't get sick!!!!! But he won't listen.....it's just so stressful because I feel I am making good choices regarding my daughters well being and I would never do anything to put her in harm's way but they don't see it that way and make me feel like a horrible mom.....

Well you have.to remember he has a point because she won't have her vaccines until at least 8 weeks,  so her body has no immune I'd at least wait to take her out until 2/3 weeks

I am due in December and parinoid about germs. I bought a clear car seat cover so people can see baby but not touch. It might be a good idea for you so you can go out but your husband doesn't have to worry about her getting sick.

I took my daughter out maybe 3 weeks after she was born. Drs debate on whether it does or doesnt help build their system up

This is a hard one. With my first i kept him inside until he was 6 weeks old, but he was born at 35 weeks so he had a weak system and he was birn in the winter. Honestly just do what your comfortable with.
