Tea tree oil is great, but as a teacher aide and mum of kids well into their teens, I offer every other mum this advice: it doesn't matter what shampoo you use, you physically have to comb out all of the lice and eggs with a fine metal comb as well. No shampoo is 100% effective on its own.
I grew up with my head stinking of tea tree oil.. my mom swore by it and still does... I never got lice so I'd say it really does work :) and it has a milion other great uses too....
I'm not sure about tea tree oil but I definitely know some prople who swear by using rosemary essential oil to rid the lice away and keep them away going foward. Supposedly lice detest rosemary. Good luck.

Tea tree oil does help with lice. I have a lice repellent shampoo That I use on my daughter and It's main ingredient Is tea tree oil. It has kept her lice free For almost a year now after She got It from Some kids She played with.
I have not I did go through this early on in my pregnancy my daughter brought it home from daycare I treated her hair with lice treatment and my doctor even cleared me to use the treatment as well after tho I did use abd still do use white rain shampoo and conditioner and olive oil she nixed so it does good with her hair but there is something in it that lice don't like
