I waited about 12 hours before heading in - that's how long it took for my contractions to get to about five minutes apart - though I did call my midwife after an hour or two to let her know where I was at. They don't really start to worry about infection until 18-24 hours after your water breaks (and even then the risk is pretty low). So no soaking in the bathtub, and no sex. But otherwise you don't have to be ridiculously careful and you don't have to rush to the hospital (unless you're GBS+ in which case you already know it's time to go - or unless you're preterm at which point it's super important to get there ASAP!!!) Good luck. Don't forget to breathe. Stay calm. You can do this!

You should call them and go straight away, after you water breaks you need to be monitored because your at risk of infection (especially after 24 hours) good luck for the rest of your labour.
