welfare

So today I went to apply for cash aid and they said that I have to wait 45 days to see if I qualify which I know I will. I'm really stressing out because I was hoping I would receive it sooner because I have no baby stuff and due April 22.
Has anyone been through this or knows what to expect.

Most of them don't care. I signed up for medicaid when I first found out I was pregnant and they STILL haven't gotten my last name right on my card. They keep putting my husband's last name on it. I didn't take his name when we got married. I've been up there 7 times to get it fixed and they still haven't done it. And I'm due in 2 days. Its ridiculous! As a tax paying american the least they could do is get my name right!

I Live in California. I have no income at all, I received all my unemployment on November 1, but I made sure that my car insurance for December and January were paid before I ran out. I told them that I need assistance, but for some reason the way the lady looked at me, it seemed like she didn't care.

Good luck with keeping it. My food stamps got cut off when I was 7 months pregnant. My friend and his girlfriend make a combined total of $16.75 an hour, they have a 10 month old and their food stamps got cut off. My 23 yr old cousin is single, in school, has a 5 yr old and she only gets $13 a month in food stamps. Sorry to say it but there's so many ppl on food stamps and welfare that they can only give it to a select few. Gotta love America...

I live in new mexico and I applied for cash aid as soon as I hit my third trimester. They said it would take up to 45 days for me to be approved but I recieved the phone interview that same day I applied and maybe three days later I recieved cash assistance on my EBT card. Im not saying it will for sure be that fast for u but as long as u have a very low income or no income and u are in your third trimester then u qualify. At least thats how it is here.

Where are you located? Normally on the paperwork there's an option you can fill in if it's an emergency, you can put pregnancy down there and hope you get it earlier.
