I know at the hospital I had my son at if it's after 8pm you have to go through the er since it's the only part of the hospital that's open. Definitely ask your doctor next time you see him since I'm sure he's the only one who will be able to give you an exact answer since every hospital runs differently.

If its after hospital hours you'd go through the er and tell them you need to go to l&d. That's what I have to do with my hospital because the part of the hospital that is open during the day like the front desk, register area is closed and no ones there so you have to go through the er for everything

So weird never had to deal with the er when I was in labor. Just walked right to l&d and was registered in bed while they hooked me up to the monitors. So simple they should all be that way seems like less stress on the mommas

I guess it depends on your hospital. The er at mine saw me when I went in, which was at 38 weeks. :)

E.R or registry. They have to check you in. And if your really in pain they have one of the nurse from l&d to come get you. At least for my hospital.

I went to the er because I didn't know I was having contractions. You should ask your doctor just to be sure. :)
