Hi!
If you have PCOS it means that you will ovulate irregularly and have periods only when you ovulate.  For some women that means 30 to 40 day cycles, for others it can mean a period only once or twice a year.  Obviously this makes it difficult to conceive ( if there are only 2 chances per year ).  If you were my patient, I would probably confirm the PCOS with some hormone tests--I like to check just a few--TSH, Prolactin and FSH, (also a pregnancy test!).  I would probably then give you some progesterone to start your period, and with that period would start Femara plus Metformin.  These medications are the ones that I personally like to start with for myh PCOS patients.
You can try naturally, and probably will succeed eventually, but it will sure help to speed up the process if you go to see your Ob/gyn and get some medications to help you ovulate more regularly.

Good luck!

Hello,

I also have pcos, and we are also try to conceive. my Dr. told me that because of pcos it typically makes people have irregular periods. We tried to conceive for 6 months with out any help. but now the doctor put me on progesterone and clomid to help get things going regular again. If i were you i would go talk to your doctor and see what he thinks. But if you want to do stuff at home you can try charting your Basal Body Temp and using ovulation tests. Also start taking pre-natal vitamins. don't know if any of this helps. but good luck!

I have PCOS & I don't get periods at all unless I take meds. My boyfriend & I have been trying for a year & a half.  I take medroxyprogestrone (provera) to see my flow on the 5 day take clomid for five days I also chart my BBT and check my CM for raw egg whites consistency.  I also use a HOK to check for my surge when I get a surge we have intercourse were I Elevate my hips afterwards without moving.  We did that basic plan for three cycles with no outcome. Now we take medroxyprogestrone (provera) to see my flow on the 5 day take clomid for five days I also chart my BBT and check my CM for raw egg whites consistency.  I also use a HOK to check for my surge when I get a surge we call in my specialist office and did an IUI (were they take your spouses semen and insert it into your uterus) I'm on DPO 13 two weeks after the insemination I go in for my blood test to see if I'm pregnant on the 7th this Monday.

I wish you luck

I have PCOS too and was on depo provera injections for 2 years but then came off about 2 years ago too. Was regular up until the day before my wedding 16 Oct, then didn't have a period in Nov but came on 01 Dec (day 47!). Looking like a normal period, so think it may have been my body adjusting to the new experiences of being married and the stress that it caused too, although it was around the right time for me in October and the December one (just skipped one I think). Been doing a bit of research on www.ivf.com/pcotreat.html and have found that it may be an option for me to have "medicines used....for the treatment of adult onset diabetes... These medications have been shown to reverse the endocrine abnormalities seen with PCOS within two or three months.....We have seen pregnancies result in less than two months in women who concieved in their very first ovulatory menstrual cycle." These are metformin [mentioned by Elaine], pioglitazone and rosiglitazone, taken seperately or as combination. I shall definately be asking on Friday, when I've got a routine check-up. My husband and I would love it if we found myself 'with child' for Christmas and reveal it to our parents then.

You have some of the early pregnancy symptoms. Some of them, on top of yours are, frequent urination, nausea (my major one - although not pregnant yet, I've been nauseous for weeks), dizziness/fainting, food cravings, sensitive to smells, heartburn and/or constipation, higher basal temperature, low back pain, implantation bleeding, increase in mucus discharge, change in complexion and nosebleeds/for frequent runny nose. I've still got a lot of these since I thought I was pregnant last month, but have just had another period. Best for you to get a blood test from the doctor, as this will be more decisive.
