10 wks post partum - infection?

I had a beautiful, healthy little girl on July 28th. I am exclusively breastfeeding and on the mini pill. I have been having a thick yellow discharge for weeks now. It has an unpleasant odor also. I am so embarrassed and have no  one to talk to about it. I am trying to figure out if it is normal or not without having to go back to the Dr. Any ideas?

I just wanted to update. I have bacterial vaginosis. No idea how I got it but have medicine and hoping it clears up quickly.

All form of discharge has an odour to it, but generally it would be mild. Anything extremely offensive or fishy smelling would indicate an infection or if you have itching, burning, swelling, etc etc. Your best bet would be to see a doctor about this. If it IS an infection it needs to be taken care of sooner than later--it's nothing to be embarrassed about, they see this and far worse on a daily basis.
