It's rough I have been everywhere I'm actually on hold with a midwife/birth center right now trying to secure an appointment as my insurance starts on the 15 and I just looked online and this place accepts my plan lol! Plus I saw water birth option I was like ME THAT'S ME! Lol :)
Ftmom is right, a midwife is normally much cheaper, I would have gone through one if tgere was one in my area. And Ive also usually only got one ultrasound at 20 weeks except for my son because we didnt know how far along I was. Ashdub that would be so frustrating, I can't believe no one will take you at all! We aren't on a sliding scale, its full price but they have no problem seeing self pay patients. And they will do a 10% discount if we pay all at once after being billed. I would be so angry if no one would take me for not having insurance!
I had insurance and at 11 weeks I hadnt been seen yet either, so dont worry. you are not behind on your care. I know some OB's so payments as the girls said a midwife is much cheaper than an OB in most places. and unless you are unsure of your last period date then most places wouldnt do an ultrasound. The only ultrasound that is important is the 20 week anatomy scan, that is the only one my midwife does other than early ultrasound if its necessary. good luck hunny and im sure youll bde able to find a way to get the care you need, just start calling around to see what the options are:)
I'm in the same boat im like 20 weeks and haven't seen an OB due to insurance denial and the clinics I was referred to do not provide sliding fees because obs are specialists so I couldn't even be seen there and there are no free clinics in this state. Hubby's insurance thru work doesn't kick in until the 15. I've been the the ER a couple times and I have visited the pregnancy crisis center a couple times. Just keep doing what you're doing and hopefully you can get insured thru hubby's work
My doctor doesnt even start seeing patients until 12 weeks, so I wouldnt worry, symptoms should be going away, and its normal to not gain any weight yet. We dont have insurance, I just found a doctor I liked, and called and set up an appointment. I let them know we had no insurance and we would be self pay. They bill as a whole, so all the doctors appointments, and the delivery in one package. The lab fees and ultrasound are seperate, so you do want to make sure you dont get more then the necessary testing or you will pay a fortune. Then there is also a seperate bill for the hospital stay. All but the lab fees are billed after labor, they may have discounts for self pay, or you may qualify for a sliding scale. Most hospitals will work with you on payment arangments for at least up to a year after, tgen many have loan programs you can go through too. It was the same at the last hospital I gave birth at. Don't be afraid to just call and set up an appointment, and see how tge hospital and doctor handle self pay patients. You are not the only person out there without insurance, and it is absolutly nothing to feel bad about. I would just start calling around right away!
There are places you can do installment payments. My sister had to do that. I wouldnt say ypu will be judged. Truthfully.. the only thing the doctor does at this stage is check the heart beat.. maybe an ultrasound but even those lately do not get scheduled sometimes until 20 weeks.
This is my 3rd.. and because we are moving and changing insurance I discussed with my ob not seeing anyone until we get to MO at that point ill be 4 mo. He said thats perfectly fine as long as I am sticking to a healthy diet.. doing what I am supposed to and get in when I get settled to do the standard tests at that point.
Youll be fine. Dont stress.
Stress is the wprst thing you can do for your baby right now.
First of all this doesnt make you a bad mom! Getting insurance certainly isnt easy. Dont stress about the tummy at 11weeks you wouldnt of gain much if anything at all. Baby is still to small. First time mommies dont start showing usually not before 20ish week and even then some is later then that. You should get an U/S around 12weeks thought....of course not a must but thats about when they do the first one. They dont start listening to the hb before about 16weeks with the doppler. No one will judge you here, a lot of mommas know how hard it is to get insurance so any questions ask away!
and the stress of you worrying is stress on the baby he/she feels what u feel. your belly wont get hard til between 15-20 weeks, sometimes longer if your a first time mom.
if your worried go to the er they cant refuse you for no insurance.Or even a clinic. Your belly wont be getting big and hard til around your second trimester so dont let that worry you. implantation crampng feels like mild period cramps, If they are worse than that you need to go to the ER, just because there's no blood doesn't mean nothing is wrong. Don't wanna scare you but i'm just being honest
I have seen a few posts about about paying out of pocket, and how some drs will do like a package that you get billed for after you have baby. I am nit sure if that is something you want to look into, bumping you up.
