Unfortunately, I dont think they would tell you this if they werent sure. I am sorry you are going through this.
You should be seeing a perinatologist, sooner rather than later.
I am so sorry that you've had to go through this. Tthe sonographer is not the only 1 who looks at the ultrasound photos, they of course perform the ultrasound, but then the photos are looked at by at least 1 radiographer & then the results are given to ur dr & then u r told. If they've told you that the 2nd babies heart is not beating & is showing a 2 week delay in growth it's more then likely that the 2nd baby has passed away. You could always ask about having another ultrasound in a few weeks to see if that baby has grown any, but I don't think that will be the case & I'm SO SO sorry for your loss. I lost twins at 24 weeks 3 yrs ago & it hurt like hell. The good news is you still have 1 healthy developing baby that you will have an extraordinary bound with. I wish you luck & am here if you want to talk you can inbox me.

Sorry to hear about this! But I would go with what Melissa has to say. I am 22 weeks with twins and am worried sick that something will happen to one or both of them. I can't imagine what you are going through.
thanks for your replies, sorry if this sounds silly but i have no idea what a perinatologist is? when i went in for the ultrasound the lady doing the ultrasound was the person who told me the bad news.. but no doctor or anyone came in after her.. after being told the news an appointment was made at the hospital 2 days later n then all i was told is that i would be keeping both babies in until june then deliver them both :( also the other thing is the dr is finding white cells in my urine but ive had multiple tests done but there is no infection, does anyone know what this might be? all ive been told is to drink as much water as i can which i have been but there are still white cells. Roke, i hope everything goes well with ur twins.and melissa im sorry to hear about ur loss too :( and yes the good news is the other baby is doing perfectly tho i am so worried now about that baby too. i just didnt expect it as i gave birth to a set of twins nearly 6 years ago n had no problems at all.
also came as a bigger shock because i just had an ultrasound at17 weeks, then was told my baby passed at 17 weeks. inbetween those two weeks nothing was diffrent, no cramps nobleeding, morning sickness was the same. Justeverything was the same
I am sooo sorry for your loss.
As mellissa said you could always ask for another scan in a couple of weeks if you think this may help you.
Again i am very sorry you are having to go through this.

It's possible the 1 baby passed the day of that 17 week ultrasound, or it could have been over the next few days. When I lost my twins there were no symptoms at all either. Sometimes their hearts just stop & you don't know until u r seen by a dr for a routine appointment. I can't imagine carrying a baby that long that has passed, but because there is still 1 living twin you really don't have a choice. It's only normal to worry about the surviving baby after such a horrible loss, but just because you've lost 1 baby doesn't mean you'll lose the other. Every pregnancy is different & even though you had twins before u see now that there are no guarantees. I had my oldest in 2003 after a few miscarriages, then had a few more miscarriages after her. Had the still born twins, then my 2nd daughter in 2008, have had 1 miscarriage & now 32 weeks with my lil man. Sometimes things just happen.
I wish you all the best with the remainder of ur pregnancy. Be sure to take it easy, & to get checked if something just doesn't seem right.
